What a beautiful, sweet, smart and loving bird. Thank you for treating her with kindness and love and for sharing your life with her. May she rest in peace.

Several years ago there was a young crow with its leg stuck in our chain link fence. Two other crows were just trying to help free it and then just watched from the grass. I went to the fence with gloves and goggles on and freed the bird. That bird still lives in a nest in a pine tree in my backyard and brings my family random shiny objects.

I kept seeing all the past tense verbs and I kept thinking “man, soon they’re gonna say the crow died, ” and even knowing this, I wasn’t ready and still felt a bit teary. Got dang bro, rest in peace crow bro.

Very sad to hear about Darling’s passing. She certainly was a very special bird.

I knew heartbreak was coming because all of this was said in the past tense. Crows are so amazing. At my last home, I lived in the territory of a shy, quiet crow couple. We fed them every day and they became very comfortable with us, coming close and hanging out on our small deck with us. One liked to play peekaboo with me. They could tell that I'm disabled (and small) and, as quiet as they were, they still became very protective of me, watching "intruders" (strangers in the yard) very closely and carefully if those intruders were interacting with me. They were only protective of me though, not my tall, abled husband. It was very sweet.

Animals can be so amazing. I found a TOAD . ( I live in south London near the Thames ) when I was about 11yrs old I brought back a toad. And let it go in the back garden sometimes id dig up worms and leave them to tempt the toad out. After few years. I was visiting my grandad. He told me the toad I released in the back garden was still about. So I put out a few worms. Squatted down. Out came this large yellow Belly spotted toad literally eating the worms off my hand. Then when I was 26 my grandad Died. And I sat in the little back garden when I heard a Croaky sound and from under some Bricks came this big old toad I knew it was the same one it came over and I grubbed around found some wood lice and few bugs. It happily Munched them off my hand. Apparently Toads can Live over 40yrs. Sadly the house was sold and I never got to go into that back garden but who knows that old TOAD probs still there.

You know someone is living their best life when they have their own forest.

I rescued two crows like this over 35 years ago. I raised them by hand. I trained them how to fly and eventually I release them and they survived for 22 years each….. fabulous birds very beautiful, my favourite bird, very intelligent

What a bitter sweet story, amazing for Darling to have shared so much with Sam & Gigi & the humans in the family & so sad to lose her so young as they can live for years.
Thank you Geobeats for sharing the story & to the family for caring so much for this beautiful bird.

The ending made me cry. Life really isn't fair at times....poor Darling and her grieving friends. ❤

It’s funny how you feel so much joy and happiness for 8 minutes and in just 15 seconds you feel your heart break.

Simply, beautiful. Rest in Peace, Darling. Never thought I'd love hearing about a crow until today. Great great story.

This story brought me to tears. In 6 minutes I got totally emotionally invested in Darling. At the point which she was BFFs with my Dog and Cat - I would have definitely built a safe house for her. RIHP Darling. You were special.

Crows are so smart. I helped one whose foot got hurt and she/he mimicked my cell phone. That was her "call" to me that she was around. She/he, too, managed to get get caught by a bird of prey and I felt so lost for so long like losing family. It was one of my saddest experiences, ever.

What a beautiful story. She was special but she wasn’t a pet. You, Sam and Gigi made her life wonderful!

❤ohh how this touches my heart. I moved 1 year ago to a retirement apartment, at my house I had 2 crows that I had coffee & peanuts with every morning for 14 years. They would come when I called them & every year bring me their baby to show off.
Now when I stop by my old house they still come & I miss them so much.
