I saw your video on ACOTAR when you talked about the same ideas regarding YA novels that clearly have a more mature theme and I absolutely agree. I don't look specifically for YA or adult when buying books and just read what sounds interesting to me. So, when I found out that the ACOTAR series was YA, I was shocked, lol.
One thing I thought of while musing on the 'YAs that should be Adult' thing, is that the first novel in a series may be an obvious YA read, but then subsequent novels mature with the original audience (i.e. my experience with Throne of Glass) and I would assume it could be hard to say, "ok, the first 2 novels, totally YA, but the remainder have graduated and you will now find them on other shelves." haha
Great video! Keep 'em comin' :D

Oh man I was just thinking- 'I need a good tag to do this week, what should I do?' I am so excited to do this and ahh I loved your responses!!!
I knew from the moment you began discussing adult books being marketed as young adult books that you were talking about ACOTAR because I remember us discussing that in I think a video you made on that subject if I am correct? I too still feel so strongly about that.
It sounds like maybe the publishers behind those Witcher books had a few drinks before the printed those books oh my gosh what a mess hahaha
I've avoided Every Heart A Doorway because I fear everyone likes it more than I will hahaha
Great great video girl!!!!

I’m so glad you brought up Strongbow Saga. I wanted to know where you first heard about that series. I love that it’s a series that I haven’t heard about. I book the first Viking Warrior and looking forward to reading it.

I really like your answers. I hear you recommend all these books that sound so interesting but I have so much on my TBR. I need to spend more time reading and less on my phone. 😅

I agree with what you said about sensoring! Some things with really dark themes are being marketed as Ya. What I think is happening is that authors are starting to write in an age category in between adult and YA. I think there should be an NA category that isn’t just referring to romances but to any genre. Some fantasies I’ve read lately that I think fall into that age gap are the queen of the Tearling books and Reign the Earth.

Hey! I know I have mentioned The Malazan Book of the Fallen before, but I just finished the first book in a prequel trilogy set in the same world that I think you would love, and as it is more recent you shouldn't have as much of a problem finding it in stores. The trilogy is called The Path to Ascendancy and the second book came out last year.

The first book is called Dancer's Lament and follows the unlikely partnership between the titular main character and the enigmatic mage named Wu. Given your predilection towards assassins it may interest you to know that this it the main character/Dancer's vocation.

I was initially worried that the book may only be good for people who have read the other books, but after finishing Dancer's Lament I am convinced that this can serve as an excellent introduction (indeed an easier one) to the world of Malazan!

Rereadathon! YES. I love that you did this tag and I definitely agree with a couple of your points, well, all of your points, but especially: 1. The Ross&Rachel of books? Oh yes, also, a fantastic name for this. Maybe it's because I grew up with Friends but I have had my fill of that kind of tension. It's like authors feel like they only have two options, either to wait until the very end to put the main couple together, or to do the on again/off again thing, both of which are becoming rather tiresome. Where are the books that put the couple together fairly early on and then keep them together? There are way more ways to keep it interesting while still keeping the couple strong. 2. Marketing books to the right audience. Now, I haven't actually read ACOTAR yet, but from what I've heard they should not be YA. Same with Mistborn, which I have read, and I ADORE, but it can get really violent. If 14 year old me had picked up either of those thinking they were going to be a fun YA story, she would have been scarred for life. Great video! I don't comment here enough because you are a fantastic channel and I love watching your videos!
