Too Cheap to Repair - Husqvarna 235e Chainsaw

Показать описание
My friend Jason pulled this Husqvarna chainsaw from the trash. It looks to be complete and in good condition. New, this saw sold for less then $200. Likely it stopped running due to a simple issue. Paying a repair shop would likely cost more then this machine is worth.

I no longer use Harbor Freight Super Heavy Duty Degreaser in my ultrasonic cleaner. Harbor Freight changed the recipe. The bottle previously stated "NON-CORROSIVE". Now it says "CORROSIVE", "do not user on Aluminum". It now damages most carburetors. Recently I have been using Simple Green PRO HD with good results.

As someone who used to be a lumberjack and also worked the green line of a sawmill that cut crossties for the railroad, when I was in my 20s (now 65), I have used Husqvarna chainsaws, exclusively, for decades. I currently have two of them. I wouldn't trade them for any other chainsaw on the market, including Stihl. I had Stihl machines before switching to Huskies and won't ever go back. They may not be very expensive, but they are definitely worth repairing...they are work horses! I have, historically, had very few problems with mine...and I use them a lot.

Over a hour of Mr condon working on a home owner grade of chain saw makes My Thursday while drinking a cup of coffee 😁👍✌️💪

This video's inclusion of the sights, sounds, throttle response and working capacity related to 2 cycle fuel system repairs and adjustments was a masterful case study. Truly a reference for all to use. Thank you for your contributions James. Well done sir!

Thank you for posting this excellent video. I found myself saying "Hey you have to open up that carburetor and look it over!" and "You have to check that clutch!" This video taught me the value of checking the fuel lines carefully.

I grew up on a small farm where we did all our own maintenance and repairs on everything. Buying something new was an exception, not a commonality. If we couldn't figure out a repair, we had a friend or neighbor who could.
Power equipment, cars and many other products are engineered to have a short usable life and be complicated and/or proprietary these days, so that consumers just buy more new stuff. That's part of the corporate plan and it's really hard on our environment and our wallets. People like you are helping to slow that down and your channel is training people how to DIY fix stuff that they would have just thrown away before. Thank you, James!

"not a lot of money" is subjective, James. That's a lot for me!

I own about dozen saws and this is my go to, I've used the hell out of it. Great little chainsaw!

My fire chief brought me this saw, his, and said if I could get it running well, we could put it on one of the trucks. That was several months ago . . . Your video has given me renewed hope! 😅

I play and work with chainsaws as a hobby and have a fair collection of them. Most have been given to me because they won’t run.
I don’t fool around, I just do all the fuel lines and the carb at the same time and most will run perfectly afterwards. Of course there will be other issues too but that’s all part of the fun.

After watching your videos I have more confidence in dissecting before chunking in the trash. Thanks!

Husqvarna saws, even at entry level, are quality machines.

Husqvarna has some weird sized fuel lines. Sometimes the OD of stock Tygon line is just a bit too small to make a good seal with the hole in the tank. Best option is to get the OEM line, otherwise, in a pinch, like on a Sunday, I will open up the hole in the tank a few thou with a drill bit to allow use of a stock-size Tygon line. Main thing is no leaks at the hole and a nice snug fit on the barb(s). Another great vid Jim!

As patient as I 'think' I am... James, you continue to teach me and all of us, how to be even MORE patient. Job well done Good Sir!

A blessing to have items this cheap available, but a curse that it means they are so easy for people to justify throwing in the trash instead of taking care of them and/or repairing them. Consumer sustainability (even just getting people to give away broken stuff instead of throwing it out) is hard to incentivize

It's amazing how you work the "puzzles" that are small gas engines. Even more amazing is that you find all the nuts and bolts that fly all over place while you disassemble the engines. That is a miracle!! (chuckle)

Thanks for another weekly vid, Jim. I know you have a family and "life" but for us regulars it sure would be nice if you could do more than 1 each us retired folk. I've even gotten to the point that I'm watching reruns of reruns. 🙂
