As much as this codex is questionable in all senses of the word, I am happy to see the Imperial Inquisition represented again - especially the Arbites who work under them.

I get that these guys may not be viable in tournament play, but in casual they are incredible fun. I’m in a crusade league playing every week and these units have so much flavor to them and diversity it’s been a great time. And they absolutely can win in friendly casual play

I hope they get fleshed-out. The whole Imperial Inquisition is so lore-rich and memeable.

I've played the fleet and ordo malleus detachments on the table. Fleet was against custodes, definitely benefit from swarm reinforcement penetration. Played ordo malleus against my buddy who kindly played chaos demons to test it. Really hit hard (as they should since it is their spec).

Overall my rating is:

Having a good time: top marks
Effective: questionable
Finicky rolls with an inordinate amount of differing weapons per group: MVP

No name inquisitor should be way higher tier for the price it’s amazing. Also breachers should be top tier, they’re awesome. I’m having fun and doing pretty well playing agents!

I reiterate, WHERE TF are Inquisitorial Stormtroopers? No, they shouldn't just be running astra militarum scions because then you can't use the Imperial Agents detachments.
That, and Inquisitorial Stormtroopers actually bring a thunderhammer. Maybe an upgrade sprue?
This just feels so half-arsed every time I look at the army...

Legit has potential just needs an actual army rule . Feels like over sight there defacto army rule is just a different assigned agents rule

What the army needs is another pool of units that pull from other imperial and some non-imperial armies that can ONLY be used with an AoI army. Maybe things like Mechanicus units, Votann, some space marines. Things of that nature

While on its own as an army it’s not good, I like the codex in principle as a way to expand their rules and allow people who really like those models to field them legally

One theory I’ve heard is that Imperialis Fleet’s acquire/eliminate was supposed to be the army rule, and it was instead turned into being its own detachment late into production because they needed a “generic” detachment. The 3 Ordo detachments specifically mention their ordos but IF makes no mention of the navy or anything at all in the lore tidbit drop-down.

I'm in a crusade with IA at the moment and I'm loving playing them, even if I'm getting slaughtered quite often. Running every assassin is a very silly move but so fun to play.

Coteaz’s ability to remove the Benefit of Cover from an enemy within 18” is nice for Guard allies. He doesn’t require line of sight to use the ability so he can place it on a unit hiding behind ruins or such and then the Guard artillery can pound them without them getting the benefit of cover they normally would when being shot at indirectly.

I've played Agents competitively now twice. The primary denial is real. Navigators, subductors and cullexis dish out enough battleshock tests to swing primaries. The fleet detachment is obviously the best. Deep strike the navigators leading breachers. Force battleshock tests on enemy units on objectives, dish out mortal wounds and follow it up with a bunch of strength 5, AP-1, ignores cover, twin linked attacks

Agents would be a way more popular faction if they actually had a damn Army rule, they have to completely rely on 4 PR mid detachments to do anything

I think if you're going to play Agents in at least a semi-competitive way, you're probably looking at taking three Armingers as Allies and using the Rogue Trader + Breachers blob to give you the redeploy and a sizeable Infiltrate unit that takes a bit of effort to get rid of. Battle Sisters are sort of attractive at 100 points if you decide to go anti-infantry with them- a Hand Flamer, Flamer and Heavy Flamer split squad in a Heavy Flamer Immolator gives you the bolter squad to sticky a home objective and a lot of Flamer fire to clear hordes that doesn't really miss the Miracle Dice. Then you've got access to a lot of cheap chaff for Actions. I don't know how the balance of chaff vs Deathwatch and GK to actually kill stuff would look, but I think there could be something there.

At least they could have conservated the rules for the kill team building inside this book

I loved old Deathwatch and I wanted to like Agents, but you know, just look at em >.>

rating breachers above subductors is crazy

The Corvus is my #1 fav unit in casual friendly play. Been running it in league for 4 weeks now. My fav combo is fly over the enemy tough unit, drop cluster bombs in move phase. Disembark 10 deathwatch and watchmaster, chuck grenade strat free lay down fire with frag cannons and heavy bolters and shoot the Corvus. Is anything still alive? Awesome. Tank shock…with the Corvus. I’ve added a modified (cleaned up) fleshmower onto the nose of my Blackstar so that my enemies know who it is they are fighting and will spread word that their troops were mowed by an aircraft.
