I'm flabbergasted that Scions and Sisters of Silence didn't make it into this book. Scions used to have their own codex, and rolling it into here would be a natural fit given the history of inquisitorial storm troopers.

Daemon Hunters:

- Shows a picture of a regular Grey Knight
- Can't take regular Grey Knights -- only one unit of terminators

Been playing since 3rd edition. Been involved in the IP since the mid 90's (Played final liberation)
Collected and based my collection around Eisenhorn. Fell in love with the Deathwatch. Returned to the hobby when they received their own codex. Collected a large collection. Spent years playing competitively with an uphill struggle the entire time. Felt like the faction was lazily implemented and balanced every edition from 8th-10th. But still persevered, believing that GW would finally, after years of record profits, be able to give The Deathwatch its due love and care. Leaned into the Meta every single time James Workshop changed it.
Only to have this happen at the end of the road. Thank you for speaking your mind quite frankly, regarding this appalling mishandling of a codex release. How this was green lit is itself a cononudrum only invented in a fever dream.

this book makes the Custodes codex look like a master piece even when it first came out.

It's taken them years to flesh out the range enough to actually be able to do this justice... thanks to kill team and blackstone fortress. And then get to the final stretch and completely drop the ball.

No Tempestus Scions as inquisitorial Stormtroopers???

Sometimes it seems like GW is trying to get people to quit playing 40K.

I wish the Astra Militarum got the fleet detachment, it's SUCH a cool fantasy of having a fleet in orbit provide support and it would suit them so much better!

this would be a thematic army rule that would also fix the lack of units vs Vehicles and Monsters.
it would also make DW players have a little more to play with.
ally in from other imperial factions and depending on their Detachment and giving the allied in units the keyword to gain the benefit of that detachment to benefit from it.
i would exclude titanic units, battleline and characters.
1000pts - 1 unit
2000pts - 2 units
3000pts - 3 units

Ordo Xenos - ally in core Space Marines - would give more of a Death Watch feel.
Ordo Melleus - Guard or Grey Knights
Ordo Hereticus - Guard or Adepta Sororitas
Imperial Fleet - Guard or Admech

i'm disappointed that they do not have their own army rule at all.

no stormtrooper scions, sisters of silence, Eisenhorn, Deathwatch, and so much more. a golden goose egg of potential turned to sludge.

All they needed to do was have an Army rule like ‘Strike with the authority of the Emperor’. Any friendly unit within 12 inches of an Inquisitor gets +1 to wound. Fluffy and means they actually have a game vs high toughness. Gives you a reason to take Inquisitors.
They could have given each detachment a mortal wound bomb 💣 strat similar to the Grey Knight librarian but only usable by inquisitors. By locking it to a strat within the dex it would help the Agents army with anti-high toughness without overpowering the inquisitor ally for all Imperial armies.
Funky grenades? Some kind of strat for a Haywire grenade or something similar? A strat for an orbital strike? Brings down a Shadowsword shot? Suddenly the codex is playable.

The codex itself isn't bad - but the problem is it shouldn't be a codex. Its a supplement to imperial armies.

My heart goes out to Deathwatch players. Sucks for your faction to be reduced to 4 units to be allied with other armies.

As a Deathwatch Main - I will admit, this book's release has turned me away from GW. I'll be stopping my subscription on WH+, I'll not buy any more Codexes for 40K and turn completely to other sources like Wahapedia, Game-Datacards and New Recuit. I got two broken armies out of this - a hobbled Space Marine army and a crappy DW army - and if I want to use my DW, GW has promised that I first need to pay for another book and then pay through the nose for using those DW in my SM army. Y a Y.

Seriously, if they just gave all the infantry squads the same rule as the Voidsmen's "Navy Bodyguard" rule, but for their respective characters then this book would be 100% better.

This is what annoys me, they don’t specify certain things. Like, If I have allied in some agents of the imperium into my Astra militarum or whatever other imperium army, am I able to use the ordo xenos stratagems on the death watch kill team I have allied in?
