Hey people, if you have trouble importing mp4 files, or other file types to DVR, check if the file name has any unusual characters. Try removing those and then try again. This is the problem I had with one mp4 file and after removing couple of special characters it imported without problems.

So, while this didn't work, I went into apple music and converted the song into a new mp3 format (even though my files were already mp3) and this totally worked. Thank you!

Brilliant! - it didn't work initially but then I was able to to convert/save with VLC and finally able to import this precious old media clip that has been converted to a new format ever since video tapes (preserving despite technology changes)!

My files are already mp4, but I still can't import them into DVR, when I try to drag and drop, nothing happens, import manually, nothing happens. And they don't show up in folders inside DVR. Help please :(

Help I can’t import my gameplay I recorded with obs. I recorded in mkv. I tried remux to mp4. I recorded a short video in mp4 and it still said not supported.

It worked!!! You have to change you whole title to (File 2.mp4) it really works lol it wouldn’t let me put no other title

Man I greatly appreciate this video ive been trying to figure out how to convert lrv to mp4 and so many people out there only show how to do it on mac and not pc with windows. This worked for me to many thanks keep up the good work

It still wont let me import webp files even after I change it to png it gives me 'Media Offline' when I import it to davinci resolve

All my files has the same file extension. While I can import 1 file from the same folder, I cant import the other... what's the fix for this?

My file already is an mp4. It's a video from my Samsung phone. Says file type not supported. WTF

DR can be finicky about imported files. I think it's more of a codec issue (h264/265/av1) than the container type (mp4, mkv). I use either Virtual Dub 2 or AVIdemux to quickly transcode the file to something else. FFV1 (lossless) for short clips or h264 for larger clips.

If it's got emojis in the name it won't import. I just removed them and it worked! So make sure files only have text, not emojis or just shorten name.

Divinci is pretty fussy for something so highly regarded. My Windows 11 media player can play MOV and some MP4's that DaVinci converts to pure audio.
