I remember hearing about this back in the 70s but it never worked for me. Now I know why: The humidity.

Florida, a place where the wonderful evolutionary mechanism sweating for cooling *just doesn't work*

I always had pain in my eyes when I drink hot beverages.
After I learned to remove the spoon first the pain stopped.

I was just gonna mention the humidity, Since I live in Florida and if I drink hot water I'd have a heat stroke lol

As a human biologist, I can tell you that the human body truly is amazing. Even human sweat has a unique evolutionary history: The ability to sweat developed at roughly the same time we started to walk upright. As a consequence of these new abilities, humans became able to run long distances (we are record holders in endurance), thereby enabling a unique hunting style (there are many other fascinating human traits I would love to cover in a video). Feel free to ask anything about that topic here (or stem cells, since I am conducting research in this field)!

This is part of my logic behind taking hot showers after spending a hot day outside. It opens up the pores wide on your skin and promotes evaporation and heat transfer. So that a few minutes after the shower you feel completely cooled off. Whereas if you got a cold shower you might continue to sweat after dried off. (Note it works only if your house has AC or is dehumidified efficiently)

Sometimes cracking open a hot one with the boys can be just as refreshing as cracking open a cold one

Dry, hot, windy - exactly the environment where people usually drink hot beverages in summer, .for example Turkey or the desert

Nick Yemana: Drink hot coffee. It cools you down. It’s physics.
Barney Miller: Where’d you hear that?
Nick: I read it on a coffee can.

I live in a pretty dry city in continental russia, and this trick really works. The only way i ever survive 40+c in the shade is by drinking scalding tea

Not if the drink boils away in Arizona.

"If your're somewhere with 100% humidity.." **Shows picture of Louisiana**

I think they increased the cap to 110% for Louisiana actually.

I don't care if it heat me up or cool me down, if I'm hot and about to sweat, I'm drinking liquid nitrogen coke.

I live in a humid environment and have found the combination of cold drinks and spicy food to be the best way to go

I spent a few years living in the Philippines which makes florida seem like Canada! I found out quickly that it does work to manage the heat.

Go for spicy instead of hot - makes you sweat without heating your body. Same effect!
