Why do Chinese People Only Drink Hot Water

If you ever have a glass of water, you would probably want it cold, right? Well in China, most people would say that they always prefer it hot. Why?

Drinking hot water keeps the blood flowing smoothly whereas drinking cold water makes the blood cloudy and thicker. It’s especially important to drink hot water around 45 minutes before going to bed.

In summer when the temperature is soaring people naturally drink iced drinks like cold water, soda, fruit juices or whatnot but it only helps you dehydrated and a chance to get the cold flu or stomach digestion problems.. drinking hot beverages or drinks helps you stay hydrated, active and keep body temperature lower.

I’m an Asian but not Chinese. I drink warm water in the winter and room temperature in the summer ( boiling water ) I like the taste of boiling water than the water fr, the fridge. Been doing this for years.

Water was full of bacteria in year's gone by, people became sick by drinking cold water until tea became popular. It wasn't the tea that made people feel healthy but the fact that boiling the water killed off the microbes in water.

I used to drink some cold drinks until I got older I appreciate hot or room temperature drinks more. It's better for me especially since ice usually encourages bacteria growth.

Also I always notice when my tummy feels bad, hot drinks always help. I also love hot soup too.

I still boil water although I have two filters at home. It's a habit and it gives me reassurance.

Even now I still would not drink water that has not been boiled.. Even in the US where I am living I do not trust tap water period.

It is also very important that drinking hot water is not drinking heating water but heated water. The Lancet once issued a research which found that long-term drinking hot water ( temperature above 65 degrees Celsius) would wreak irretrievable damage to the mouth and throat.

I think that Chinese people drink boiled water because at one time tap water in Asia was not safe to drink. I don’t know whether it is still unsafe but it has become a habit. My mother-in-law (who passed away a few years ago) used to drink boiled water at room temperature, never hot.

If you know Chinese Medicine then you will know for what kind of imbalance you require to have hot / warm drinks. Not every person requires hot or warm drinks .

Well I guess I been doing something right ….I prefer my drinks hot or Rm temp is my favorite way of drinking. I NEVER put ice in my drinks. If it’s cold it takes me a very long time to drink it.
