If you're a car enthusiast, you know that tires are a crucial component of your vehicle. And if you're familiar with Michelin, you'll know that they're one of the most respected tire manufacturers in the world. So, when Michelin announced the release of their newest tire, the Michelin Pilot Sport S 5, it's a very exciting moment.

The Michelin Pilot Sport S 5, or PSS5 for short, is perhaps the most highly anticipated tire in the history of tires. It's the successor to the much-loved Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S (PS4S), which was the successor to the Pilot SuperSport (PSS), which replaced the Pilot Sport 2 (PS2). So, in an almost poetic way, Michelin has come full circle on the naming convention, keeping us on our toes with each release.

So, what sets the PSS5 apart from its predecessors? This video aims to answer that question by looking at all the information available on the new tire. We'll explore how it improves on the Pilot Sport 4 S, which was already a top-performing tire, and what makes the PSS5 stand out in a crowded market.

We'll also cover where you can buy the new Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 and what the future holds for the Michelin Pilot Sport range. Whether you're a track enthusiast or just looking to upgrade your daily driver, the PSS5 promises to deliver improved performance and handling.

Overall, this video is a must-watch for anyone interested in the latest tire technology and innovations. With exclusive information and insights, we'll take a deep dive into the Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 and what makes it one of the most exciting releases of the year.

I literally changed my alloy from 18" to 19" to be able to have the PS4S. Amazing tyre. The grip, the wet performance, hard to overheat, there is no weakness really.

Nothing comes close.
Best tyre reviewer.
Thanks

Love the Sport 4 S. A lot of money when replacing 4, but worth it in the long run. Wet grip is amazing and it rains a lot in Scotland. But also you get a real feel of confidence when cornering at decent speeds on winding roads. If it ain't broke...

I REALLY REALLY hope there will be more size than the 4S.

I had the PS4 until a while ago and because PS4S costs more than a PSC2 around here (225/40/r18) I just bought the PSC2 (connect). The alternative to the PS4S was the GoodYear Eeagle F1 SuperSport which may be a bit better than the PS4S, but over the years of owning and using various tires I learned that the Michelins are consistent while the other degrade, damage easier, or just fade off.

I would love to see a comparison across segments. So for example a test with: PS S5, PS5, SportContact 7, PremiumContact 7
Aspects that I would like to see: wear, noise, temperature dependance (will braking with a cold tire be better with the less sporty tires?), feel of the tire

I would love to choose one of the sportier tires, but am unsure of the compromises I would be making with regards to these points. Sadly there are barely any tests comparing across segments.

Thanks for the amazing videos! I have watched every single one going back years

I would love to see a test in which you compare the oldest tire still in production (or an corresponding old tire in fresh condition) to his modern equivalent to see the difference tire development has archieved over the years. This would be so exciting to see!

Drove the M4 Competition on 4S at Nurburgring, very nice and sticky tire. Less sensible to temperature changes than the cup2 and works as early as 35’C. Unless track toy, use the 4S instead of the cup2 and you have less headaches.
Waiting on my new 992, hoping to win the “tyre lottery” - getting Michelins and not Pirelli or Goodyear 🤞🤞🤞

1.5 years later. 4S is still on the market and the S 5 is only available in stupid OE sizes.

I've driven using the Pilot Sport since my 2000 E46 and every generation of that tire afterwards. It gets better ever generation. I'm super excited too to use the PSS5 when my current PS4 wears out in about 2 years...

I just shined my Goodyear F1 Assymetric 6 tires. They are my sixth set and fifth brand on this car and the best so far. The Db rating is awesome, the performance just fine. This is one I have not tried. Perhaps the next set. My size used to be expensive. Now its just a common size and less than half of what it cost 12 years ago. I drive easy and the noise is important to me. I have had some tires that sing too much.

Sooo exciting !!! Thank you Sir ! Just ordered a set of 4S, will use them until the 5S (S5) is available. Hope they smash the Conti Sport contact 7. And yes, give us more sizes, a 245/30/19 for a stage 2+ 140i ! 🤩
Can’t wait for the full scale test and comparison.
Love from Bordeaux. ✌️

Excellent info! Having the years broken down into chronological order was hugely helpful. Cheers!

i have been running the Pilot Sport 5 Front and Pilot Sport 4 s Rear for six months now, awesome tyres, interestingly the Pilot Sport 5 has the same side wall pattern as the Pilot Sport S 5.

Just bought SC7 hahaha, let's see how good this s5 is over the Conti. The side wall design looks fantastic though as usual. Michelin has a history of designing good-looking sidewalls.

After using the impressive 4s on a few cars, and now done 4kmiles on the Conti sc7 including two wet trackdays.
I'd say the Conti has the edge on the road and track for performance, wet/dry grip, noise similar and wearing well.
and at the time of purchase cheaper than the 4s.

Seems great cant wait. Good move changing the name, many people confuse PS4 with PS4s
