But if I sleep less than 9 hours I feel like shit. I need a solid 10-11 hours of sleep.

I love to sleep. I can sleep up to over 10 hours and still feel like I need more

I'm not sure how I feel about Sci Show using The Huffington Post as a cited source.

I can't speak to the heart disease or diabetes, but I can confirm that oversleeping is a symptom of depression, rather than the cause.

This morning I must have overslept, because when I woke up I looked at the clock and was alarmed.

I used to sleep 12 or more hours a day, and I suffered from depression, and I was always exhausted. Now I sleep 6-7 hours a night, now I have more energy and I am happier.

I remember one time when I was around 16, I slept for around 24 or so hours. I did wake up a few time but I just rolled over and went back to sleep. I have never done that again.

Complete bullshit. It's common sense that not enough sleep will cause health problems since sleep is a biological necessity. But all these supposed health problems linked to "over sleeping" are nothing more than a very weak correlation. In fact, it's more likely that it's the other way around - a lot of health problems actually cause fatigue and THAT is why a person may have to sleep more. For example, hypothyroidism and autoimmune diseases can cause extreme fatigue and so of course a person with those disorders will sleep more and often take naps. It's also obvious that a person who isn't feeling well is going to be depressed. Therefore, over sleeping and depression are just SYMPTOMS of an underlying health condition, and do not result from over sleeping. These studies just seem like confirmation bias to me.

oversleeping is definitely a symptom of depression, almost everyone who experienced it can say that there's no desire to live when depressed and you might sleep just to get away from reality in a simple way

I've been sleeping for about 12 hours each night for, probably, close to a year now. I was diagnosed with depression 5 years ago and always connected it to that, but i feel it's also in part of the fact it takes me about 3 hours to get to sleep each night and I only sleep when i feel on the verge of collapsing.
I hate sleeping and anything involved around it.

So the answer is 'we don't know'. Correlation =/= causation.
