Thanks for this video, I wasn’t able to change my drive letter back after swapping in another pc hard drive to get data off so when I plugged my drive back it reassigned to letter F and I was unable to change it back to E for all my game files and software

Hi. I think this may be helpful for what I am trying to do, but need clarity. I have just added an SSD to my computer, leaving the HD in. Done this to improve boot speed. Have cloned the C drive (HD) to D (SSD) and copied the boot partition across using bcdboot C:\windows /s D: . On the BIOS setup, the only option for boot sequence is to select from is "Windows Boot Manager" or the SSD (I think this option is there because the SSD is now in place of the DVD drive). If selecting the SSD (D Drive) it does not boot.

So I feel my only option is to re-letter the 2 drives C to S (or whatever) and then D to C. I am hoping this will then result in the computer booting from the SSD (now as C). Problem with re lettering, as in the video, there is the error "The parameter is incorrect". I am concerned if I follow the fix - Edit System Settings - and then change D to C, the computer won't start up again. (I have backed up the current drive C using AOMEI and have also created a window Image Backup - both onto external HD). I guess the risk is low of losing stuff then, except for a whole lot more time.
Can anyone assist in directing me to the correct shortest route to get my laptop to boot to the new SSD please?

There is no need to restart after changing the drive letters unless something failed. The user should know immediately if the change took affect by looking at drive letters under "This PC".
