Diskpart
List Disk
Select Disk ... (type the number here)
Clean

this usually happens when your disk is formatted on Mac or some files are first copied using a mac.

Hi, many thanks for the video. Just a small point: In my case, in step 2, I had to first "Initialize Disk" by right clicking on the Disk 1 icon on extreme left.

when i click on auto find the device it's coming up with the partition that doesn't have my data, is their a way i can select the partition that has the right data?

Yay, this worked for me! I thought I lost everything when trying to switch from a mac to windows. HFS didn't work for me, it would not recognize my hard drive so I had to use DMDE and pay for the full license. But other than that, this video helped so ty!

This worked perfectly thanks so much! I'm a software developer, pretty technical, and have spent hours trying to troubleshoot this with device manager, diskpart, etc. I regularly need to move files between PC and Mac. Should've searched for your videos first. :)

Thanks a ton. It was life saver. Bought new 5tb external WD passport HDD. It wasn't recognizing at first as it was formatted for mac as factory default. And I use windows. Finally, with your tips I am able to resolve the issue and use my HDD.
