In 4 Bby, the Imperial Navy established an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots. It's purpose was to teach the art of space combat, lost with the clones and ensure that the men and women who graduated were the best starfighter pilots of the galaxy.

They succeeded.

The Empire calls it Imperial Special Starfighter Academy. The pilos call it:

What we need is a 181st story, Legends Baron Fel, the best pilot in the navy hunting pirates and rogues in the outter rim in the period between RotS and Empire. have a proper story about loyalty to the people a TIE pilot flies with, the fleet commanders and the citizens of the Rim

Going by legends, there were actually a few known Imperial TIE Aces. Han Solo was one a full Squadron Leader, right up until he disobeyed orders to kill a wookie who murdered the entire crew of a Imperial Slave Transport (First meeting with Chewbacca, he refused because his more or less mother figure growing up, was a wookie.) And Baron Soontir Fel, Top of his class in the Imerpial Naval Academy (he and Han basically set goals and standards in simulations within the Academy).

A not-insignificant majority of Rebel Aces were Imperial trained, some jumped ship, still in the Academy, others left after graduation. (Biggs Darklighter and Wedge Antilies to name two.)

The reason for this is quite simple, the TIE/LN Starfighter itself. If you are given an unshielded, glorified Swarmcraft that is if anything, fast and can more or less shoot straight, you either get really good as a pilot, or you get dead.

First, respect for this Video. Second, a serious Movie about Tie Pilots, showing that the imperial Forces are not machines or maniacs. That the imperial Army got a human face and maybe that many believe that the Empire brings order to the Galaxy. Sounds great, but not as long Darth Kennedy lives.

It actually shows you how much music and narration could change an entire movie. I did a piece in college where I made the shining trailer look like a love story with just music and some spoken narration, crazy stuff
