Love my w124 300d, it's so nice to drive something comfortable, reliable, built well and that gives 30 mpg or more, love the channel, stellar work !

It's easier to get parts for a W126 chassis versus a later model because there's a demand for those parts. The word is out that the W123, W126 and W201 are amazingly strong cars. They were built at a time when everything on those cars were designed to be rebuilt/fixed, not thrown away. These other Youtubers can't fathom this concept because they don't know Mercedes Benzs like Pierre. Knowledge versus video clicks.

You and I think a like. I had to get rid of my ‘81 & ‘82 300D because my wife complains that I spend more time with my cars than with her.

Finally! Someone who knows what the hell they're talking about when it comes to Mercedes-Benz. W123, W124 and W126 chassis cars are still -- even to this day -- the best cars on the road (and the Lexus LS cars, too) and the most reliable, durable and dependable vehicles EVER MADE. We're talking about cars made of STEEL. NOT PLASTIC. We're also talking about cars with standard safety features that don't appear on other manufacturers' cars for almost a decade later: ABS. SRS airbags. Traction control. And the list goes on. Diesel engines last millions of miles...LITERALLY. But the gas engines like the M104 and M119 last 400, 000+ miles just as easily. Parts and labor are a fraction of the cost of the newer cars, however, the REAL VALUE is in the number of parts available in JUNKYARDS FOR pennies on the dollar. A vacuum pump for a W123 turbo diesel in effectively like new condition for $80? Yes!!! That's right! Listening to Scotty -- a self described, so-called "expert" -- bashing Lexus LS430 engines and Mercedes-Benz M119 and M113 engines just makes me wonder why anyone listens to the guy AT ALL???

Enjoyed my little W201. Easy to fix and maintain, and was only due to a major change in my living arrangements that I had to say goodbye and buy something new...but I still have a classic V12 car from a British manufacturer tucked away for sunny weekend drives. The little W201 was something special and built like nothing else.

The classic cars are what Mercedes made their reputation on. New Benz are pretty much junk that will not last a dozen years. When there are no more 20 year old Benz on the road, but the 40 year old stuff is still driven, maybe then we will see that at one time it really was The Best or Nothing.

I drive a pristine '98 w202. It's easy to get parts for, and I can do some of the work myself. It's actually fun to drive, people are amazed with the power and solid ride, and I personally consider it better than the Subaru or Camry that we own save for their accident avoidance systems. The M-B aways starts!.

Just discovered your channel this weekend; great work! Frankly I'm an English car guy, but I totally agree about classic cars. I've got a Triumph TR-6 (the third one I've owned over the decades) and a Jaguar XJ6. I take great enjoyment working on them, driving them, or even just sitting in them in the garage with a drink. I paid pennies for them compared to a modern car, and in spite of the money I've put into parts (I don't have to pay labor, because they are simple enough that the average guy and do the work), I'm still light years ahead of the money I would have spend on a 40K a new car (and not have gotten a car as nearly as cool as what I have now).

I agree on every accounts! I own and maintain our own W210 estate and W202. I know they are not a W124 or a W201...but to me, those generations are hitting the sweet spot where modern meeting the solid classic generations of Benz. Thank you for the video. “Liked” and “Subscribed”!!!

Most cars are depreciating assets. So just drive something you love. And if you get lucky, the older ones will appreciate.

We love our W126 300SE
Parts are becoming less of an issue for me mainly because I’m learning where to find things (Australian based)
As always a great video
You’re an inspiration Pierre

I think most people want a lot of the little electrical doodads we find with modern cars. And cup holders, lol! Cup holders are huge. Kid you not, i know people who passed on 123's and 126's because they simply could not get beyond the fact that there were no cup holders.

For me, I LOVE my 126 grey market 500SEC. Especially after The Man himself went through it a couple of months ago. What a joy it is to drive.
