How to use a WD_Black P10 with your Steam Games for more library space

In this video I'm showing you how to use Western Digital's WD_Black external game drives to install games from your Steam library, then use plug and play to boot them up.

This is a great way to install more games without the faff of actually opening up your PC to install more internal drives inside.

It's worth noting that there are three different game drives with varying attribute:

The WD_Black D10 meanwhile is a larger capacity drive but slower HDD style which means you can store loads and loads of games but it's not nearly as fast.

The WD_Black P10 (featured here) is the more affordable drive and a great balance of speed, performance and storage space.

Great review man. I've been considering this WD black P10 either 4tb or 5tb for backups and installing some of my PC games. Do you experience any issues on steam / pc games that you installed on your P10? Is it better to format it as Ntfs for Windows 10? Thank you in advance 🙂 I have my main drive as 1tb nvme ssd I am looking to expand my storage.

I wanted to ask a question since when I use the game drive, it doesn't run games how I want it too, the games are either stuck at 20 FPS or just wont go up, and my laptop is amazing with playing games at a high graphics settings, but even when downloading a game that is small and with the game style based on pixels, it will not run any higher than 25 FPS.

i had found that if a game that I have on this drive needs updating it will update but then get stuck on an endless download loop at the 100% mark and it will never complete. Is there something I did wrong when first installing games for this to happen?

sorry a dumb question, my laptop shows it has USB3.0 and P10 has 3.2 gen 1 on their website, is it gonna work on my laptop?

Need help i tried plugging in my WD Black numerous times and it wont connect i dont see it on my file explorer like you do at 1:20 i got it for my xbox one a few years back but i figure i use it for pc now do i need to delete all my xbox one games first? let me know ..thanks in advance
