Betelgeuse Can Help Us Find Dark Matter

Axions are a hypothetical elementary particle their mass is millionth or even a billionth of an electron. Axions are an ideal candidate forming Dark Matter which makes a large of our unseen universe. Since Axions makes up the invisible Dark Matter they shouldn't interact often with ordinary matter. But some theory suggests that inside a strong magnetic field, photons might convert back and forth into Axions.

Located 520 light-years away from the Earth not only Betelgeuse have strong magnetism but also a core producing high numbers of photons. So, if Betelgeuse can produces Axions they should be able to escape the star's gravity and convert back into photons in the X-ray spectrum. Scientists are currently looking for these photons and Betelgeuse is an ideal candidate for the research.
