I was never taught these little tricks a near decade ago in high school. And I took basically every high level math class and physics class offered except calc.
I know HOW to factor, but I typically have to play process of elimination using hunch/insight to guess what combos would work. This new information to just know what should be the factored items is huge for me. Thank you!

I'm very weak in math. But I vividly remember my teacher(Sr. Rosily) who taught me this in my high school. She called it splitting the middle term. Wherever you are Sister Rosily you are deeply missed.

In the second equation, 4 + 6 ≠ -10. In my opinion, you should try (-4, -6) because those two digits can be multiplyed to get 24, and added up to -10.
