Is the 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge a better SUV than a Genesis G70 Electrified?

The XC40 is Volvo's smallest SUV available for 2024. On the outside you will discover a 2-tone paint job, 20in wheels and panoramic sunroof. On the inside you will be greeted by supportive seating, 9in infotainment screen and digital gauge cluster. Powering the XC40 is (1) motor producing 248HP & is RWD. Is the 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge a better SUV than a Genesis G70 Electrified?

I love everything about the car except for the small screen with the a/c vents on either side, and a few buttons below it. I think the space in that area could’ve been arranged better.

The trick with the AC is to control the temperature which will also turn the fan speed down. The climate in my polestar does the same thing. It was annoying until I figured it out.

Well, some people got snow in a winter... So just a rear wheel drive can be challenging!

Just get the B5 version. XC40 is great. I can deal with unpainted body side moldings. Not as crazy as like CX50. Plus it’s more durable against rock chips/ road debris.

eGV70 all the way. I agree with so many of your zonks on this XC40 Recharge, which you won't find on the eGV70, except for the rear wiper. I test drove this XC40 Recharge and the eGV70. It is not even close. Genesis is in the next class with M-B and BMW.

For the high price I think that I would have to look at the Cadillac first. Also on recharging you want to slow charge when you can do so, fast charging most of the time takes years off the batteries life span.

I just read a horrific story about one of these vehicles catching fire. Now my question is are the rear doors meaning opening and closing them electric instead of using cables and latches they use electric solenoids and actuators because this story was pretty tragic where the carcon fire and a small child was in a safety seat in the back and they couldn't get the doors open. If this is true this is not a vehicle I would want to have any of my family members in for any reason

One thing i am gonna zonk is that xc40 is not a rival of gv70 electric . It is gv60 that competes with xc40

Volvo is actually wanting to switch over quickly to BEV. But their new car, the EX90 is delayed by about a year. They are not building any new gen hybrids or PHEVs. The hybrids and PHEVs are the same older generation cars that we've seen on the road for years.

The XC40 Recharge is pricey. I sat in the Polestar 4 that starts at about $60K and it is much roomier and more modern than the XC40. A G70 electrified is a nice vehicle, very different than the XC40.
