I was a 33 year old plumber and started my IT certification journey earlier in the year, my plan was to complete the CompTia pathway and try to get entry level cyber role, I loved the learning and I felt I was wasting my time in my job and I should just try to get into IT and build my skills. Well I did it, after an extensive interview process I've landed a IT Support Engineer role at a cyber company having only ITF and Net+. I recently discovered your channel and I plan to go through it all. Good luck to everyone out there and don't get discouraged and keep fighting.

Just got my first IT job and I hadn't even finished my A+ cert yet. They really did just want customer service skills, a willingness to learn from superiors, and a good personality. Chuck is speaking the TRUTH.

After watching this video I got a job on the Help Desk. After a few months I got a job as a System Administrator…and now I’m studying to become a security engineer. Fell in love with IT. Thank you Chuck!

I got out of construction a year ago and decided to teach myself programming. Tomorrow will be my first IT related interview for a help desk position. Imposter syndrome was starting to get heavy. This video pulled me out of that. Thank you Chuck!

Chuck, you are the man. After watching this video and having no IT experience or certifications. I started applying to jobs and finding a way to directly email HR. I explained that I was currently studying for the A+ and even offered to shadowing. They saw how hungry I was to learn, and I got the job as a entry level data center technician. One step closer to the goal.

Update: Hey guys, sorry I was not able to respond sooner, I'm currently overseas with the military. Overall, in the civilian sector, things are great mainly because I had the opportunity to work with great people. All i had to do was show interest and ask the right question. You don't need to know everything to create a difference in your work environment. I was never late, never said no when extra work was needed, and took plenty of notes. Made great friends that even at the moment, some of them have reached out to offer me other opportunities. Currently, I'm studying for my security+, and I will try to get into cybersecurity when I get back to the States.

Swallow your pride and take the Helpdesk position. It may pay less, but the experience you gain will be valuable for future career or maybe just life in general.

About 10 years ago, I started my IT career with a position that was basically a help desk position and then moved to another help desk at another company. I eventually was able to get a system admin position and I'm getting ready to start an analyst type position in IT. As much as I didn't like the help desk roles as much, the experience was invaluable to my career and it's growth.

I've been into computers since my early twenties. I learned to build them on my own. I'm 41 now. Been working customer service in Banking for 20 years. Got laid off. Spend a few months at local tech school. I'm starting my first IT position as an IT refresh tech for a company that is contracted by Northrup Grumman in Palmdale Ca. I'm excited. I start Monday.

If you are in college going for a degree in IT check to see if your college offers IT positions to students. I got an IT helpdesk job at my college doing tier 1 and it was a great experience plus I had over 2 years of experience when I graduated.

Chuck I have been watching you since last year and I have been on the search for an IT position and building my knowledge as I go. I have now landed an IT Help Desk at a hospital making $34.97 an hour. Been there for over a month now and LOVE IT, but really would like to pay my respects to you. Service desk DEFINETLY opens you to EVERYTHING so you have that exposure. Talked to some of the higher up Infosec guys and told them I watch you and they also agreed that you are awesome. Keep it up!!!

Chuck, my man! I got my first proper IT job due to your videos.

For now its 25k but will go to 28k in 12 months, 35k a year if I reach tier 2.
I had worked in phone based customer service before, as well as had repaired computers.
What they were most impressed was me giving simple solutions to hypothetical tech issues. For example, mouse not working. What to do? - Just unplug and replug, check if laser is working, try a different mouse etc.
They said most other interviewees make it too complicated, thus blowing their chance.
They also appreciated my customer service background and people skills.
And I took your suggestions about how to make the resume, I think that helped me a lot.

Thank you very much for your help. I'll keep watching your vids to learn more and more, as there doesn't seem to be limitations on the knowledge in IT that one can aquire.

I’m 40 years old and I’m enrolled in Cisco IT Fundamentals preparing for the A+ cert. I’m actively searching for an entry level job and I’m not stopping until I get there.
