Why is self care for autistic people important for the wellbeing of autistic people? What autistic self care tips are there to help us?

Well in this self-care tips video after a month-long break, I decided to open up and talk about some self care tips for autistic people which have helped me get back into creating again. But remember that autism self care isn't just physical or mental self care but rather trying to give autistic people self care skills to help their autism.

Issues with autistic self care can come about because of executive functioning issues and autism burnout. But self-care is so important for our own mental health.

Hi indie people! What things would you want to talk about in future videos? I want to try to touch on more topics and continue to bring videos like this to help people. So your input is greatly appreciated!

Also thinking as part of taking good care of yourself, is speaking to yourself with the same kindness you would to others. I'm terrible habit of being really critical of myself in situations where I wouldn't be if it wasn't me but someone else. This is a double standard, so trying to replace inner critic with more balanced way of looking at things. Hope I'm making sense 🙈

So glad you took the time out for yourself when you needed it. So grateful you make these videos, but acknowledge you need to take care of yourself too. You really good role model 😊

This is the first video of yours that I've watched, and I immediately felt at ease when I saw your Pikachu.

Honestly to do lists are great, especially written on a big whiteboard, means those around you can also see what’s going on in your head and potentially causing you anxiety

Good too see you back again & your video was very real & very much a solidification of why you took time away. Good on you Andy 👌

Your right I’m not lazy I’m completely exhausted. When I clean I love it and get a lot done when I’m in the zone but when I get off work and I’m nagged to do something right then I can’t and need to be alone for a while after work.

So good to see you again! mmmm pig in the blanket and salt and vinegar crisps. Mmmm, comfort food! so what is a UK "pig in the blanket"? In the US it's different like cabbage rolls or a sausage or hotdog baked in bread or little smokies (finger sausages) wrapped in canned quesant bread, that tastes like playdough to me and no, I do not find it pleasant, lol. I still have turkey to eat, YAY! It is very important to take time for yourself. I usually forget and burnout... but, not anymore, I hope.... lol. Good to see your face! thanks for sharing!

Great points made here! I figured out that looking after the environment around me is vital self care a long time ago, but taking time to myself to do my own thing is....somehow not something I’d though of 😂

I can relate to everything in your video except that lunch. LOL

My lunch consists of 1 jammy wagon wheel, 1 packet of ready salted crisps and zero coke. Most days this is my lunch and it's yum for me lol.

I absolutely need the a long time but it's really not so much that I need to be away from people I need quiet and that's what I call it quiet time

The more potent the vinegar in (US) chips, the better.

I'm still new to your channel, but have you talked about driving/getting a license? Or alternatives if you can't?

I can drive, but I've only recently heard about that it can be a big struggle for some. I'd also be curious to hear other's experiences here.

Your lunch will give you diabetes, eventually. As one ages with ASD medical care is essential. My doctors (I have 4) all say I am sensible enough to realise when I have problems & have controlled my Cancer. Routine is a taken. Hobbies are a taken. Lists are a taken. Merry Xmas everyone
