TOPIC: Ask Me Anything
GUEST: Joe Heschmeyer

QUESTIONS ASKED:
00:00 - Introduction
01:00 - Catholics like to try and validate the serpents' claim that when you die you don't really die. That's how they end up teaching Mary and all the saints are not dead but in heaven.
05:46 - How should I love God and have a firm resolve especially after confession?
12:28 - When was the last time the pope spoke ex cathedra?
17:07 - Do you think it's ok to use philosophy and theology to evaluate human evolution?
27:53 - I’m a recent revert. Why does the bible seem to suggest that Jesus is subordinate to the father?
36:39 - How are we sure the saints are in heaven if there's a chance they went to purgatory?
46:23 - Are priests also counselors?

12:30 I would argue the last time the pope spoke ex cathedra was Dominus Iesus in 2000. Pope JPII approved the document addressed to all the Church and faithful, making it his own, “by virtue of his apostolic authority”. And in it various teachings on faith and morals are defined and it is said “The Catholic faithful are required to profess” or “must be firmly believed” etc. Thus all the conditions of Pastor aeternus at Vatican I are fulfilled. This would also apply to certain others of John Paul’s encyclicals in the ‘90s. The CDF in its doctrinal commentary has given Evangelium Vitae (1995) as an example.

My question for Prudence would be, after being told he doesn’t do counseling, did you say something along the lines of, “Father, I understand you don’t do counseling, but I’m having these problems and would request that you offer up a prayer for me and can I have your blessing?”

Now this in no way validates the blanket policy of that priest, but offers a meeting point between the desire for what she was looking for and what the priest was offering at that moment.

Also, I would suggest, if you don’t feel comfortable asking that priest why he has that policy, bringing it to the attention of someone within the diocese’s main office or to the Bishop himself.

Thank you for touching on the philosophy and science aspect of reality with our faith. As we move into a more secularized world it's easier to reach people about the reality of God through through reason part of faith, especially since so many reject the belief part of it.I think it would be helpful to explore the rational world even if it's outside of what the church teaches authoritatively on. In my own experience it's more helpful to convince people of God by using the classical theist vs materialist argument and showing why things like the origin of the universe or life are self defeating when using a purely material examination.

The Bible says “ don’t be afraid” many times but why was Jesus so afraid that he sweat blood?

Thank you very much for exposing liars and deceivers who for centuries have deceived so many people. They won't even mention the early church fathers. The Bible originated from the Catholic church and yet they are using the same book to attack who made them.

Biological polygenism is not condemned. In short, Cain's wife may not have been his sister, in which case she'd have no rational soul.

1 Corinthians 15:51 “Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, ” 1 Corinthians 15:52 “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

The “dead in Christ” in verse 16 shows the location of the dead. To be “in Christ” is to be in “fellowship” with Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be IN CHRIST, he is a NEW CREATURE: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” How does one get “into Christ”? Galatians 3:26 “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:27 “For as many of you as have been BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST have PUT ON CHRIST.” We “get into” our clothes and therefore have put “on” our clothes. So we “get into” Christ through baptism and therefore “put on” Christ. Think of going “into” a house through a door. Then you are “in” the house. So the “dead in Christ” are the Christians that had already died. And those that are “asleep”, in the context Paul is talking the Christians that have died, Christ through His death on the cross as Savior will He bring with Him and the dead and the living who are and were faithful will be changed into a spiritual body to live with Him throughout eternity.

1Thes4:13-14
13Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

John 11:11-14
11 After saying these things, he said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go to awaken him.” 12 The disciples said to him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.” 13 Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that he meant taking rest in sleep. 14 Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died,
