TOPIC: Ask Me Anything: Catholicism
GUEST: Jimmy Akin

QUESTIONS ASKED:
00:00:00 - Introduction
00:05:21 - What is that Protestants have against Mary, and how can I give scriptural responses to their objection?
00:13:55 - I am a comic book artist. I want to create comics that are appropriate but not sterile. What principles can guide me to have this balance?
00:18:49 - How do we know for sure that the woman in Revelation 12 is Mary? It seems that part is really about Israel.
00:23:50 - It seems like there is a lot of tension between the Vatican and the Latin Mass People. Do you think the Vatican should have a concordat with the TLM community to keep the conversation going?
00:33:21 - Can you elaborate on the story of remote viewing Jesus that you mentioned a couple weeks ago?
00:36:38 - What is the Catholic Church’s teaching about cremation? And can you spread the ashes?
00:41:18 - Do you think there is any connection between the assassination attempt on Trump and the apparitions at Fatima? They both happened on July 13. And I’ve seen clips of a Protestant who supposedly prophesied the assassination attempt -- do you think there is anything to this?
00:51:24 - I’ve heard that the canonization of St. Josemaria Escriva was controversial because there were some negative testimonies that were not heard. What do you make of that situation? Can someone be canonized who shouldn’t be?
01:01:55 - The Church Fathers have different interpretations of the unforgivable sin. How can we know the true meaning of that passage?
01:10:50 - How do we reconcile the consecration to the Immaculate Heart with the accusations from Protestants that Catholics worship Mary?
01:14:11 - Is it possible there were non-human civilizations on Earth before Adam and Eve?
01:19:46 - I was surprised that Catechism 1856 names immoderate laughter and idle chatter as sins. Are they really sins?
01:29:02 - It seems like near death experiences confirm that the soul is eternal and this life is just a passing form. Why doesn’t the Catholic Church deal with this instead of persisting with the idea of Hell to scare people into being good?
01:40:54 - My family believes in Oneness theology. How might I convince them of the Trinity?
01:47:24 - Can you obtain an indulgence now for someone who is not dead yet? And for getting an indulgence for 30 minutes of Eucharistic adoration, does it have to be the exposed Eucharist, or can it be in a closed tabernacle?
01:53:17 -Are we obligated to fraternally correct others?

5:28 I don't know why Jimmy referred to scholars when it comes to the Mother of God. It is right in the Bible when Mary visits Elizibeth.
"But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?"
As God chose to be made flesh by being born of a woman, he requires a mother.

I was walking across a busy street. Walking toward me were ten young men from out of the front of a Catholic church.. One wore a t-shirt that read "Got Mary?". This is but one reason I am a Protestant.

Imagine there are 10 kids in your family. Now imagine you somehow found a video game that you could all play. 9 of you are playing and having fun, but 1 decides to be a sore loser and throw a fit and scream. Your mom comes in, sees all 10 of you playing, and 1 yelling and screaming, so she unplugs the game, says, "If this game is going to make you act like this, I'm taking it away, " and walks off with it. That is Traditionis Custodes.

My humble suggestion is that you switch to only fielding online comments. The constant wrestling with callers that aren't available, have bad audio quality, or have long-winded questions/comments gets tiring as a listener (and tiring for you I'm sure!).

Great show regardless!

Even if it says vain repetition. It doesn't say not to pray in repetition. Simply, if I say that I dont like green jello, does that mean that I dont like jello? No, the word green is the qualifier. I like jello, just not green jello. It's a silly example, but you get my meaning.

Jesus was submerged when he was baptized by Josh the Baptist. Why don't Catholics submerge?

Not only protestants object. The bible DOES NOT support those false doctrines.
