I cant even tell you how many times unit cycle has made me see random swordsmen be in the middle of the ocean because i accidentally made them go there 50 turns ago

I wish there was a way to enable quick combat and movement specifically for AI because I personally enjoy watching the animations for my turn.

Always use the ribbon. Reminds me constantly how far behind I am in science versus the AI

Great list! Just a quick note on *why* Auto Unit Cycler is annoying:
1) It gives you no time to observe the effect of your actions. Say, you attack a barbarian with a warrior, but with AUC enabled, you're immediately taken to, say, your scout and have no idea what the damage was. It's far better to only cycle manually when you're ready ("Enter" by default; I remap to "X").
2) The cycling is pretty much random (even if AUC is off). Say, you're attacking a city with multiple units -- there's no guarantee that, following an action of one of your troops, the AUC will cycle within that group: you can be taken back and forth. It's better to manually click on the units in a group in a meaningful order (in this case, the attacking units), then cycle through the rest (civilian units, reinforcements, etc.).

Someone accused you of cheating for toggling on an option... Brilliant individual

If you have Victor with the free promotion ability, your spies will get that promotion too. So always build spies where Victor is.

That info about food is huge! I play pretty casually, so I never remotely knew how much food I was wasting! That's honestly kind of game changing.

NOTE TO SELF:
1) HUD Ribbon: Options - Interface - Shows Yield in HUD Ribbon - Set to "Always Show"
2) Auto Unit Cycling: Options - Interface - Auto Unit Cycling - Set to "Disabled"
3) Day Cycle: Options - Game - Time of Day - Unclick "Animated Time of Day" and Set to "Noon-ish"
4) Faster Game: Options - Game - Quick Combat and Quick Movement - Set both to "Enabled" (Shaves up to 60-70% off) or at least Quick Movement - Enabled
5) Hot Keys: Options - Key Bindings - Next Action Key - Set to "Z" or "some key you can easily press"
6) Waste Less Food: City Menu - Citizen Growth, when at Housing Cap/Max - manually lock workers on tiles that maximize production/science/culture without wasting it on food tiles becuase the Housing Multiplier is low (75% penalty or 100% penalty)
7) Use Spies Correctly: Build as soon as you can in high production city and send to AI, with MOST GOLD - and set to Siphon Funds. Al;ways steal gold. Gives $$ and allows easy level up.

Here's mine:
I'm a noob to Civ 6 and I learned today that you can make up for a lack of science and civics by chasing the boosts. My macro strategy was to only research techs I had boosted, even going so far as to pause several researches until I could finish them with a boost. Ended up leading in science even with a poor science per turn score. It also gave me a well rounded civilization, where I tend to over specialize usually.
I also didn't know you could buy great people until a few hours ago, so I suggest looking over the UI in detail.

This game still needs an option to "close relations." Or something similar so that every single AI doesn't try trading with me every time I get anything new (resources/art/ect)

Hey, thanks for doing this tutorial. This is SO helpful for those of us who don't yet have an intuitive understanding of the game. Would love to see more of these!

I've been playing Civ 6 for two years now, and it seems like I still haven't learned all there is to learn. The ribbon is completely new to me, and that looks really, really useful. I also never really thought about switching off food production when I'm at my housing limit, but now that you mention it... well, duh! Makes perfect sense. I confess that I often don't micromanage my population unless I'm trying to put a rush on something, but I'll try to use my population more efficiently next game.

I did know about siphoning funds being the best mission to send an idle spy on. Helps that the mission naturally has a much higher chance of success than anything else.

I love this type of videos. I started with Civ 1 and spend a decent time in Civ III so bruteforcing myself through the game is a massive rerflex for me. And even in Civ III 15 years ago i had trouble to understand the tile bonuses etc.
What i wanna say is, these type of "Civ 6 for absolute idiots" is so important for me. I should realllly really really try to learn more. I do so much stuff at random that you pros decide sophistically about.
