I've been sober almost 3 months, I started drinking heavily at 14, I been an alcoholic for 21 years, my liver was hurting really bad, and I almost crashed and died 3 months ago, quitting was the best decision I made, I lost 20 lbs in 3 month just by not drinking, I had alcoholic liver disease and its getting better now.

My wife died 7 months ago at the age of 35 from a doctor's catastrophic mistake. She was in the hospital for pancreatitis brought on from alcohol abuse. She was 5' 9" and 110 lbs. She was a fashion model in her early to mid 20's and weighed under 100 lbs. when modeling (she was anorexic). My point being is that she was a tiny woman (size 0) so alcohol hit her harder than most. While the doctor's mistake killed her, she would not have been in that position if she was not an alcoholic. We were married for 7 years and I tried everything to get her to stop including 3 rehabs. I now know firsthand that alcohol can kill you, even at a young age. Anyone out there who drinks too much, do what you can to stop or at least cut down to one day per week.

My life ended the day my wife died. You don't want to end up like my wife or me since I spend every hour of every day wondering what I could have done differently to help her. I never understood her need to drink so much. She was ridiculously beautiful. We had a very happy life; we were best friends. We had plenty of money, great jobs and were planning to retire in our 40's. Now, I am full of sadness, depression and anger. You don't want this life. Do whatever you can to get your spouse to stop drinking. My wife is proof that drinking can kill a young, otherwise healthy person.

It's 21 days of my sobriety and I lost 8kgs of weight, I combined quitting alcohol with a brisk walk in the evening. I'm really happy with the results and my mood is so much better when I'm sober.

3 months after stopping drinking entirely, I feel better, can think better, have more energy, and am much more positive than I used to be! YOU CAN DO IT TOO!

Spoiler Alert: Alcohol is a toxin. Amen. I stopped poisoning myself 8+ weeks ago and never felt better! Plus I've dropped 30 lbs over the same period (embracing Keto and IFing at the same time). Thomas is great, I'd way rather be addicted to his videos than the bottle ;)

Only 11 drinks in the past 126 days equates to less than one drink a week. Not as good as going cold turkey, but it’s a start and a step in the right direction. I’m definitely going to continue working on reducing the amount of alcohol I drink. After all, wouldn’t it be better to do some thing that benefits my liver rather than do something that harms it?

Thank you for touching on this. My father passed recently of alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, my uncle died of the exact same thing the previous year. By the time it was caught in both it was too late, stage 4 decompensated. One was a beer drinker the other hard alcohol. The way alcohol is pushed and normalized is sad. I didn’t know how bad until I did research once my dad was sick 😢. Haven’t touched it since, it is poison and destroys so many lives.

I would add to that the other big problem with alcohol is the addictive nature of it, that it actually rewires your brain to prefer alcohol and requires it, and increasingly large amounts for the same benefit or feeling. It comes with a dangerous future potential.

I was one of your "frequent flyer" drinkers until about 10 days ago. I have been Keto for a long time (years), but in 2020 I started drinking beer frequently .... no work, nothing to do, stuck at home. Even though I stuck to mostly Keto I gained weight. The drinking in excess has been going on for three years. Just imagine my brain fog, fatigue, dehydration and generally feeling like hell.
It's only been 10 days, but I went to Ketovore, eating mostly meat and eggs. The only other things I will eat are avocado, dill pickles and a few olives now and then. I have a quart of LMNT water every day. I can't tell you the drastic change in how I'm feeling in this short time. I'm surprised that I didn't have serious alcohol withdrawal but I did not. And my bank account looks much better too!
I can't believe what I was doing to myself with all that beer! Thank you for another informative video!

Glad you mentioned kava. In Polynesia and Micronesia they’ve had quite a bit of success with getting people with alcohol abuse problems away from it with kava kava. They traditionally serve it as a “tea”, but it can be bought in dried herbal form. It’s relaxing and even helps with sleep. I personally find that cannabis (legal where I live) is an easy way to displace social drinking. I’m much less likely to over consume absent mindedly in social situations if I’ve had cannabis. CBD/THC tinctures into a mocktail works great socially too.
