LA Forces Landlords To Rent To Convicted Criminals And Professional Tenants

The city of LA is trying to make it easier for the absolute worst tenants to screw over landlords by making it illegal for landlords to screen tenants criminal history, credit history, or eviction history. The move would destroy a landlord’s ability to protect their properties from professional tenants who will abuse the system to live for free.

I agree with you that not everyone is good. Professional tenants( thieves and criminals) are everywhere, causing chaos and destruction.

The democrat solution is to make someone else responsible for the governmental shortfall

This is the same city that has extended the eviction moratorium until June 2023. So they don't want you to be able to screen your tenants and then you can't get rid of a bad one. I would sell any properties I own before renting in LA. Criminals and bad credit are not protected classes.

The first 20 seconds of your video summed it up. If that passes, LA is truly off the deep end

This is going to be like a magnet. Professional tenants/deadbeats will come from all over the country. They talk to each other. Probably have their own internet darkroom where they learn what they can get away with and how to do it. Watch the movie Pacific Heights. Good movie. Does not make you want to become a landlord.

Banks were accused of racism in the early 2000s and that's what led to them loaning to people with horrible credit histories, leading to the proliferation of subprime loans and the housing crash.

Just to flip the script: If they're worried about discrimination with background checks,
" minorities " with a good history are also going to be kept from being shown as a GOOD prospect.

If I rent to a tenant who has nothing to LOSE by ripping me off, they will rip me off!

If they have good background, they want to keep it good. By being honest!

The government has shifted the burden of welfare from them to landlords. Does government allow landlords to not pay taxes? NO! Water and sewer? NO! Landlords unite to uphold out rights!

We in America, we don't work to solve problems. We work around problems and make them even worse.
For example, we fear homelessness. What do we do to solve it? We create what's called an "eviction process" and make sure that it's at least 2 months long in republican States and at least 4 months long in democratic states. We brag ourselves that we do so to allow the evicted bound tenants more time to save more money for a new place. So, to solve something; we decided to hurt the landlords by leaving non paying tenants in their investments. This basically makes the homelessness problem worse.
1) Some landlords will never be landlords anymore.
2) Some that stay make it so difficult for the average people to find housing like credit check, job history, high security deposit, eviction check. Most tenants who have money can't find landlords who will accept them. The landlords are afraid not to lose money housing someone for too long for free.
Instead, if we just made eviction be just a phone call like "hey this person stole my house". The police come and immediately remove the non paying tenant. Landlords would have more faith in the system. This would remove fear and accept every tenant.
Another positive thing is MOST TENANTS WOULD PAY THEIR RENT IF THEY KNEW THAT THEY COULD BE HOMELESS VERY QUICK. Just look how people always pay for their hotel rooms. They know the owner can just lock them out that same day so they always pay.
BOOM, HOMELESSNESS PROBLEM 90% SOLVED.

I selling my rental house now and in escrow in California. You have know property rights. I would not even live in California they tax you so much and you don't even have to be rich . Even just middle class income. If you look at the state tax you pay per check week you work . I live in Neveda save 5 thousand dollars a year. every year in ten years that's $50000 and what do you get for that nothing.

If I owned rental property I would not rent to tenants anywhere in CA.

I guess la doesn't want any more rentals. That is a deal breaker for an investor.

Look if a tenant has a history of not paying rent or a history of destroying apparments or drugs use. Why would a landlord want that. If u get a loan the bank ck ur credit. Why don't banks just give anyone a loan. Ooooh stupid me. The bank uses the information to make sure u will pay back the loan. I say if the government want anybody to get an appointment than the law should be we all should get a loan. And I will not pay that back. Just because. I bet I don't get the loan. See how this works. How about this of the government want to let anyone rent then open a government house. Oooh look at Cabrera green in Chicago. They tour it down because not even the cops wanted to enter there that is how bad it was.

That’s their plan. It’s been very transparent. They want to cash in on all of the small houses in downtown LA. If you don’t live here you don’t know that the small houses are a mile from that skyline.
They want that property! These 2 bedrooms homes with no garages and were built before 1950 still owned by Mexicans who live their. These homes are under 1000sqft and are worth over 1million dollars. The conglomerates want those properties. This isn’t about anything other than the obvious. Money.
Any poor person who votes for this votes themselves into a new zip code over 100 miles away.

Well next, you’ll have to rent to anyone they assign to you.

Landlords better wake up, this attitude is coming to a neighborhood near you. We must start writing reviews on tenants who are detrimental to our industry.
