Im working with a 6yr old student whose only current diagnosis is ADhD. Dealing with a lot of challenging behaviors- screaming, crying, punching, kicking, and digging fingernails into my arms. He gets triggered by tiredness (he is very sleepy when he arrives at school), being told to participate in schoolwork, and doing non-preferred activities. I have only been working with him for 2 weeks, but I have seen an escalation in behaviors. I am a Sped Para (4th year) and I have been following the guidance of the teacher, but nothing seems to work- token boards, positive motivators/rewards, taking a break from the room, etc. How can I help him be calmer and express himself in a non-violent way?

Why is it ok for classroom staff to be punched, kicked, scratched or bitten? Does it have to be life threatening to be unacceptable? Being sent to the hospital at any other career would never be tolerated.

my son is 11 and non verbal. at times he can be very aggressive to the point where he digs his fingernails in my forearms and has left bad scars. ithink its due to his not getting his way in some circumsrances and then to him being unable to communicate...he is in junivile probation (getting ready to come off though) due to his aggression at school. he is now on half days and that has seemed to help but he still shows EXTREME aggression at home from time to time and idk if its just him being stubbrn and wanting his own way or if its autismn...

My son is 10y/o with high functioning autism, he’s in regular class and not violent at all, when he’s frustrated he struggles with coping that emotion and he squish objects but never agains people, but at this age kids start to notice what triggers him and they use words that for any other kid would be silly comments but he just can’t stand it. Ex. He loves Toucans and he believes when someone says…”all toucans will be extinct” he just can’t stand that wrong info being said from an persistent kid over and over. And he jump over a peer today because of this. I’m worry because he’s not looking this hostile interaction but how do we make him to understand he’s being triggers on purpose? I can’t change the world to be kinder, I need him to understand using his words even when he’s putting on the edge like this times (he says this kids follows him to keep saying this “innocent jokes” and he just can’t help it. I know this is not a more serious aggression but he gets in trouble every time since he’s in a regular class and not labeled as autistic unless kids notice it. Any material that help me to help him? I’m so scared of middle school with older kids ☹️🥺

I’m sitting here trying to find answers for myself. I’m 33 with level one ASD or what used to be considered Asperger syndrome and everything I find pertains to children is there not a damn person out here that focuses on adults I was diagnosed at 14 when they didn’t know much about it, never went through counseling never got any help for it and now that I’m quite a bit older. I’m tired of trying to fight the urge to just beat somebody’s ass so if anybody out there knows of anybody that deals with adults with autism please comment back.

Hi, my 5yr old son got diagnosed with high functioning autism and paediatrician is sure he has adhd but he's too young to diagnose here in the UK. He struggles to verbalise what and why he feels, and he tends to lash out and recently he's been very aggressive. I feel like a human punchbag at the moment. He is verbal and very smart. The aggression is really affecting me and I'm trying so hard to understand and help him. Iv bought emotion PEC cards and a feelings board but he just doesn't understand this. Please help xx
