Wait until her pay is late, then she’ll understand the importance of being on time.

As a 47 male with ADHD, my struggle is time blindness. I have been an electrician for over 20 years now, working. All I can say is “ALARM CLOCK!!”
Best invention since the wheel for me

I think that "being yelled at" is probably NOT what I or any other Gen X-er, boomer, etc... is what really happened. She was probably told "no" and then informed that they would not tolerate being late by the "time blindness" excuse. She was put in her place and she felt bad with this reality. Good morning Sunshine, welcome to the real world.

I work in an industry where i can't leave until my relief shows up. If you consistently screw me out of my off time because you're "time blind", we're going to have problems.

I used to have a friend who lived in Seattle, and for anyone who has never had to commute in Seattle, morning traffic can turn a 20 min drive into almost 2 hours. When my friend applied for & was offered a job, the employer was kind enough to inform her "Listen, we have a few employees from the same neighborhood as you, we'll let you know right now that the drive to work takes about an hour, so please plan accordingly." My friend said sure, but she immediately complained to me about it, of course. Cut to her first day of work, she was over an hour late for work. They said it's okay, we warned you, but now you have seen for yourself. Second day, over an hour late. Third day, same thing. She absolutely refused to leave her apartment any sooner than 20 minutes before she was supposed to show up. Day five and she calls me in an absolute fit because her employer is now telling her that if she shows up late the next day, she's going to be let go because it's not working out & she's "not reliable". She can't believe it, and when I tell her to just get up an hour earlier & leave an HOUR before work, she starts whining & scoffing going "They need to understand how bad the traffic is & modify my hours". I jokingly said "Yeah, tell them that." Well this place must have been desperate for employees because even though she showed up late again, when she talked to her employer they actually said OKAY, and her new schedule time was set for an hour later. And guess what she did. Did she leave at her regular time & manage to show up on time? Nope, she still left 20 min before her new start time, and was almost 2 HOURS late because traffic happened to be even worse. She was fired. 🤣🤣

The fact she doesn’t know she’s entitled shows how entitled she really is.

Its called an alarm. Its your responsibility. Set multiple ones. And teach yourself the routine.

These people don't want to destroy the workplace. They just don't want to work.

I fully believe in time blindness and struggle A LOT with it. You know what I do? I set a BUNCH of alarms! Instead of making excuses, I figure out how to work around the problem and push myself. I set alarms for things that seem so silly to other people, but if I don’t set alarms then the task won’t get done. I couldn’t imagine asking someone, “could I submit all my things late because I don’t feel like abiding by everyone else’s standards and rules?”

I feel her pain. I struggled with time blindness. But there was also a wonder cure for me. It was called, getting fired. After than I didn't struggle with it again. I just bucked up. Amazing.

There's a thing called rules. They should be the same for all the employees. That's called equality.

I wonder if she'd be so understanding if her paycheck had 'time blindness'..

If you’re good, you’re hired. Don’t show up on time, you’re fired. Very simple.

I’m feeling confident she was NOT yelled at.

As someone with ADHD I am sympathetic to her struggles to get places on time. But the solution is to develop time management skills. Set alarms, make lists, improve your ability to estimate time. The reason why you can't just "make accomodations" is because removing the time pressure means that students won't show up at all.
