"This will only take half an hour..."
*four hours later, half done*

I try to prioritize tasks by which ones generate "dead time." For example, if I have laundry to do, I'll start that first, because most of the task is waiting for it to be done. Then I'll try to work on something else during that waiting time, and I get a built-in break when the washer/dryer goes off. It helps me both condense what I'm doing so it takes less time overall, and it helps me break up monotonous tasks by letting me walk away from them for a while.

My time blindness gets exponentially worse when I take showers. I've found that putting on music has been big in helping me be aware of the passage of time. Singing along helps me remember which songs (and therefore how many) have played, as well as keeping me from getting too caught up in my thoughts.

Yeah this is a big problem for me. Especially at work or on home projects. I'm always like "yeah that'll take like an hour" 3 hours later I'm half done.

Love when I'm telling friends how long I'll be, overestimate it because I know I struggle with time blindness, and still end up late 🤩🤩🤩
I'll be doing something I think will take 10 minutes, be like "give me 15-20 minutes" then 30 minutes later I'm just like "I'M ALMOST DONE JUST GIVE ME 5 MORE MINUTES" (it takes 10 more.)
God bless my friends who put up with me and know to expect me to take 10x longer than I estimate for.... anything,

Literally the most impairing feature of my ADHD. (And the clocks and timers have all become background noise at this point.)

And thank you so much. I got diagnosed as an adult within the past year and your channel has helped me feel like a person.

I was proud of myself today
My mom asked how much time I'll need to get ready and I didn't underestimate and said I needed 20 minutes
And it actually was enough!

I’ve found wearing a watch to be especially helpful! It serves as a visual AND tactile reminder to be aware of time, and let’s me check the time without checking my phone (and getting sucked in instead of continuing what I’m doing).

Recently, I have my alarm set to snooze for 15 minutes. I keep hitting snooze through the work day to keep my brain from wanting to stray. So far it's helped.

I got a letter from the NHS apologising for long referral wait times but they recommended your channel! I've been watching on and off for years and had a sorta "no way!" moment. You really make a difference

I overestimate and get paralyzed. Tracking how long stuff takes is powerful and helps me overcome paralysis. How long did it take last time? Now it becomes the time to beat. Gamification! Huzzah!

There is something uncannily soothing watching this and realizing that I have already managed to develop such skills years ago without knowing about (my) ADHD

"If it's something you've never done, Triple it" Great advice!

This is great! Timing things really helps me. I have a nasty habit of making tasks out to be a bigger deal in my head than they really are. I'm much more likely to do a task without procrastinating if I know ahead of time that it's really only going to take me 10 mins vs my brain thinking it's going to take 30+ mins.

I have my iPhone timer set to ring every 15 minutes when I need to complete tasks through the day from 9-6pm Otherwise I get stuck, get distracted or spend too much time on one thing. The timer has been helpful to me in a way of helping me stay conscious and present. I feel much happier and accomplished.

2 hours later still cleaning the desk? I'm still planning where to start and what parts to include in that couple of hours, the desk would be an improvement for me. :)
