What is time blindness and is that why you're always late?

Balancing your attention skills could be why you're always late.

Let's connect the dots.

Time blindness is not an actual medical condition, but it's a way to talk about the concept of losing track of time.
Some people, experts say, are more likely to have it than others.

It all comes down to two things: something called automatic and directed attention.

1. Automatic attention: paying attention to things you enjoy. It can lead you to get so focused on something that you lose track of time.

2. Directed attention: used to engage in things you have to do, like work and chores.

Time blindness happens when you can't balance the two, with extreme cases including autism or ADHD.

When I was a kid my parents told me to be successful all you need is a watch and a pen. Basically be on time and pay attention. Seems to me some people just lack personal management.

Fortunately early on in life my father made sure i never suffered from time blindness. My first boss made sure i understood that if i wasnt 15 early, I was late. I would LOVE to hear a new hire explain to their new supervisor that they suffer from time blindness!

Time blindness can be managed effectively with various strategies:

Setting Alarms and Reminders: Use alarms on your phone or clocks to prompt you when tasks need to start or finish.
Creating Routines: Establish daily routines to help regulate your internal sense of time.
Using Visual Aids: Employ visual timers or clocks to visualize the passage of time and manage tasks accordingly.
Prioritizing Tasks: Focus on prioritizing tasks based on their importance and allocate appropriate time slots.

I have work blindness, sometimes I just forget that I’m working a job so please don’t mind me if I’m on my phone or talking to people instead of doing my job

Just one more person suggesting to set a timer, like no one's ever thought of that before.

For those who believe time blindness doesnt exist. Time blindness isnt a medical term. Our brains keep track of the passage of time. When we cross a busy street we must time the cars. If you have TB you may get hit. If you know how far your kitchen is to your bedroom, thats determined by your brain. Your brain knows how far the bust stop is since you travel daily. Yet, when you plan to do somethibg real quick cause you know the time you still miss the bus. TB is one of the most easy ADHD symptom to address. But, other symptoms of ADHD like racing tboughts and working menory issues can mess interfer. Thats why we shiuldbt depend on our memory.

and yet we're supposedly all adults supposedly being responsible and being held responsible... no consequences means you can keep on getting away with it, and calling it a cute name and making it into a fashionable TikTok illness ? Even less responsibility. Real consequences would cause even sad little "oh I'm time blind blah blah blah" people sit up and take notice and start arriving on time. Problem solved. But not in this lifetime of more and more pathetic "diagnoses" and lack of responsibility. Be an adult. Take steps. Arrive on time.

Time blindness is false. No body has it. It is just an excuse for someone who is entitled and lazy.
