I've gotten burned by social media. I had a tiktok back when it first started and gained over 2000 followers when I posted my art. Met some great people, did some collabs, posted my artwork and cosplays but the burnout of posting everyday had hindered my motivation even to this day. I have my own art business now selling art at vendor events and I HATE taking pictures and posting my artwork on social media. It takes a thing I love doing in my free time and turns it into a chore. "Post on social media so people can see you and you can get big!" It's just too much pressure and burnout for me. I don't think I can do it again. I even try my best to stay off social media because if I'm on Instagram or Facebook too much, I compare my artwork to others, I want to make what they make and it makes me feel like I'm not original or stealing ideas. I just feel like a fraud. Social media is just very draining

This is exactly why I don't focus on trends and focus on evergreen content. I love teaching pixel art, so I just do that.
When I look back on my life in 20 years, I know I wouldn't think "If only I created just one more trendy video" :)
