TikTok's becoming YouTube, Instagram's becoming TikTok, YouTube is... ? 👇

The problem is that people copy other people until every video in your feed is the same content.

I miss the days when social media was all about creativity and genuine connections, not just endless ads and cash grabs.

I deleted all my social media accounts besides YouTube on the 1st of January.
I realize how much I don’t miss it at ALL. Now I talk to actual people in my life.

I miss the old Instagram days when you would have a feed where you could see your friends pictures. No stories, no reels.

Social media doubled down on short form videos overnight and completely ignored everyone else. I am a photographer, and I immediately became irrelevant because I didn't want to turn my photography into videos. But, that goes for every single person who didn't want to post 3 videos every day. Now, John & Jane Simpleton who just wanted to interact with their friends and a few favorite creators, they're no longer seeing their friends' posts because now their feed is full of video creators and ads.

The everyday, average human beings, are the ones who hold the power to social media. Forcing EVERYONE to participate in short form videos was never going to be a sustainable practice.

I deleted my Instagram and facebook account 2 years ago, and while I opened an instagram account, I don't post there. I strongly believe YouTube is the only platform that makes sense for any business. The audience here is very loyal compared to any other platform

We shouldn’t strive to be a content creator. We should strive to be artists.

Youtube is saturated in that I find so many quality videos I'm genuinely interested in watching, but I physically don't have time to watch them all. So things get overlooked that shouldn't.

Big corporate money ruins everything... it ruined music, movies, football and it finally killed the internet. it poisons the creative process.

your perspective is refreshing. If only YouTube could see they are already the blueprint they wouldn't try to compete with TikTok

The dream of being a YouTuber/Content Creator died when EVERYONE wanted to be one. This on top of the barrier to entry becoming non-existent..

The problem with content creation started when people saw that you could "make a lot of money" by recording some videos. The vast majority today don't do it because they like it, but just to make money. It's no wonder that there is so much meaningless content and content bothering people on the street...

These was a time when social media actually was fun and connected with people then it turned to everyone hating each other competing trying to show off people going insane making online content

Can't wait for the internet/social media to go back to the late 2000s/early 2010s.

Don’t know about you guys, but as a simple end user, I started feeling burnout about a year ago. In the last 6 months I’ve reduced my YouTube usage by 95% or so. There’s rarely anything I want to watch as it’s all the same.

I feel like in the next 15 years social media would just become another lost media that you would only visit if your really that bored

Quick side note: They had to create a „paid social media“ option in Europe, because they were in conflict with regulations regarding data illegally being used for advertising. If you still want to use the free version (literally everyone), you have to confirm that your data will be used for these ads 😅 It‘s just a trick to work around regulations in Europe. Confirm or pay 💰

I've been telling my fellow photographers for years: likes and followers don't validate the quality of your work.
There's people who have tens of thousands of followers, who are mediocre photographers. There's spectacular photographers who have only a couple of hundred followers.
As long as you do what you like and create what you like to create, the right audience for you will find you.
Others, much like you described, just put out the content they think people will like to see. Then when it doesn't catch on, they cry about it. When in fact, they should just be honest with themselves and ask if it really is their best work or not.
