Finally Happened! SpaceX Revealed NEW Starship V2 Flight 7 launch date...
As discussions about Starship Flight 6 have settled, curiosity about the next Starship flight is growing increasingly lively.
So, what are the plans for Starship Flight 7?
What’s new about this flight?
Let’s find out on today’s episode of Alpha Tech:
SpaceX has already begun pre-launch checkouts on its seventh Starship vehicle, though the company has not yet announced a target launch date. This vehicle, however, will be significantly different from the Starships that have flown thus far, marking an evolution in design and capability.
“The Ship has been stretched to make room for larger propellant tanks, increasing the propellant capacity from 1,200 tons to 1,500 tons,” said Kate Tice, Senior Quality Engineering Manager at SpaceX, during the webcast of Starship’s Flight 6 launch. This is a substantial leap in capacity, enabling the vehicle to support more demanding missions and potentially extend its operational range in space. Previous versions of Starship featured a standard height of 50 meters.

In addition to its increased size, the ship incorporates a host of other upgrades. “The forward flaps also got a redesign,” Tice added. “They have shrunk in size and shifted in location. These changes will help better protect them during the intense heating of atmospheric entry while still providing the necessary aerodynamic control.” This redesign also aligns with SpaceX’s focus on improving the vehicle’s reliability and performance.
Although SpaceX has not disclosed a detailed mission profile for Starship’s next flight, company CEO Elon Musk shared some insights shortly after Flight 6. According to Musk, the upper stage of the Starship will once again target an ocean splashdown during its next mission.

“We will do one more ocean landing of the ship. If that goes well, then SpaceX will attempt to catch the ship with the tower,” Musk stated in a post on X. This move signals SpaceX’s gradual transition toward its long-term goal: precision tower catches for both Starship and its Super Heavy booster. These precision touchdowns will enable rapid re-flight of both stages, a key priority for SpaceX.
This groundbreaking vehicle is designed to revolutionize space exploration and commercial spaceflight, with applications ranging from deploying massive satellite constellations to transporting humans and cargo to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. Its reusability and ability to carry heavy payloads make it a game-changer in reducing costs and expanding the possibilities of space travel.

The super-heavy booster isn't limited to lifting starship, it can provide a lift for other upper stages that don't have to be reusable... and the booster is reusable...

Interlocked Phoenix Scales is reusable, anything less, not so much.
With a 32 % smaller flaps, that's 4 fixed Wings of the Phoenix, no part is STILL the best part.

Next flight is possible for January 11 2025.

There shud be no problem with FAA reviewing and approving individual Spacex Launches - however, when FAA bureaucrats start their pathetic go-slow plolitical agenda there are costly consequences - there is really no reason for FAA to take more than say 4 days to up to max of 2 weeks to re view and approve Launches as so much is repetitive!

How many failed launch attempts will Space X try with Starship V2 try before they admit the development is costing the US taxpayers too much ? SLS is looking like the much cheaper and faster option when development costs of Starship are included in the price...
