SpaceX is WORSE than NASA! (and other silliness from Twitter)

Many on social media have suggested SpaceX shouldn't be providing so much of NASA and other government agencies launch capacity, and that the only reason SpaceX even exists is because it gets ALL its money from government grants and subsidies.

Of course that's a complete lie because the government actually saves money every time they use SpaceX for a launch, sometimes as much as hundreds of millions on a single launch.

The interesting development is that the US government may be displaced as the largest customer by Spacex itself this year or next. They are stating that Starlink turned cash flow positive last quarter. That is a milestone that will be a first for the space industry.
Arguing the economics of space over the years has always been a heavy lift, but it is actually getting a bit easier as direct to consumer benefits are now becoming day to day experiences.

Always good to see this type of review. If you were to flip it to cover ULA costs it would seem like a hatchet job once you compare pricing. And it is still super common to here SpaceX is subsidy driven and those same people typically don’t say the same about Boeing/Lockheed.

Hasn’t Elon paid more taxes than NASA‘s annual budget?

Elon Musk funds the government more than the government funds SpaceX.

Brian this series is great. You know you’re preaching to the choir. The uninformed work hard to stay that way.
