How to Convert MBR to GPT during Windows Installation

Many people trying to install Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 run into an error saying that the drive that they want to install Windows to is an MBR partition table and Windows can only be installed on a GPT partition table. This video shows you how to clean and convert your MBR drive to GPT simply using Diskpart on your Windows installation media.

I had a brand new laptop collecting dust in a drawer for over six months because I never knew I could do it from _within_ the Windows installation shell and could find no other way to do it!!

Disk list only shows my entire hard drive and my Flash Drive... I have a separate partition for windows but it doesn't appear in List Disk

You just saved me!!! I was installing the Windows from a USB drive and it wouldn’t select my m2 ssd for installing windows because I had it set for GPT (opposite to your case), so I followed every step you made but converted it to MBR instead, and it WORKED!! Thanks mate

Thanks man that was fast clean and you said everything needed to be said. Some people take up to 10 minutes for what you did in 2 minutes. I always know what to do when I reach this convert to GPT error, but always forget to code, so I just love to find short video like this just to see the code, because I already understand what I'm doing.
