Idk my M2 Air seems great. 8 core GPU model, 512SSD, and 16GB of RAM. Handles productivity great and for cheaper than the MacBook Pro. I am a developer and it's totally fine. I also do astrophotography and editing photos in Photoshop and Lightroom is totally fine. You're not gonna cause it throttle unless you're doing something crazy on it. I also have an M1 iMac with the 8 core GPU, 1TB SSD, and 16GB of RAM and the MacBook Air is just as good as the iMac if not better

It's funny how creators downgrade the new Air and recommend its predecessor which is already 2 years old with same old wedge shape design. People were quite frenzied when M2 hit the market with new design and faster M2 silicon chip before the SSD issue came into the picture. now everyone seems degrading the M2 Air for being 200$ expensive. It's expensive bc it has better form factor new design comes with MagSafe, Better WC, 50% more bandwidth, better performance in every aspect except the SSD read write speed. It's outrageous!

People seem to have forgotten what the laptop world was like before M1. This guy would have never even considered a base model 8gb ram 256gb storage thin and light laptop for his heavy work requirements. Everyone seems to be trashing Apple because eventually, under full load it will thermal throttle. Of fucking course it will it has no moving parts. Why is the fact that this machine is absolutely unequivocally the most powerful and capable computer ever in such a ridiculously small form factor lost. The fact that this thing runs for as long as it does with no fans is remarkable, Don't forget that.

So the M2 Air is not recommended for heavy duty video editing and some video games. I am not seeing a problem for many users.

Yep, for the m2 get the 512/16gb setup or don't bother in my opinion. Or if base model get the M1 air. I put in an order for a midnight M2 512/16gb 10 core GPU with 67W charger. I like the slim and lightweight design. Never had a MacBook before but I know I didn't want a chunky laptop so the m2 air spec'd up was an easy choice. The other option for me was the xps 13 plus spec'd in a similar way. But the m2 512/16gb blew the xps 13 away in test videos. Also beat the xps 13 battery by amounts

Ever since Tim Cook has taken over as CEO of Apple, I think things have definitely gone downhill, and I don’t have the confidence in Apple that I used to have. The most recent addition of the MacBook Air M2, and all of its issues are just proving this point.

There have been many issues with products and dirty tactics happening since Cook took over, that Steve Jobs would never have let happen, such as the throttling of the batteries on the iPhones that they got busted for. These types of issues prove that the consumer is no longer as important as making money for Apple.

I bought the MacBook Air M2 and after only a few days, sent it back, and here is why.

The issues with the lack of a heat sink, besides throttling the performance of the system, I think will have long term effects that will show up later, such as the life of the system because heat is the number one enemy of electronics.

Shipping a base model with a poor performance SSD and only 8GB Ram is just another example of the type of company Apple has become.

One source showed that Apple only pays about $10 for those SSD drives!

The issues with smudging on the new Midnight color, while annoying in itself was not as big an issue as the quality of the build. In use it was obvious this unit would show scratches much quicker, and much worse then any other Apple Product ever.

For a product that cost over $1800 when configured the way it should be, should be a rock solid product, which it obviously is not.

Solution: Just get the 512gb SSD so the read/write speed can perform optimally.
