so if you're born with red hair/ freckles it's +1 poison resistance +1 pain tolerance but -2 environmental resistance. interesting build aspect

I'm a natural redhead and currently have a pain doc tell me that that particular gene is what causes my low pain tolerance as well as the need more more anesthesia then other people. I researched it and found a lot of data supporting this as well. I've never heard of it causing a high pain tolerance. Also, I truly do not handle pain well at all. Like, disabled due to back pain, not well.

My brother was a red-head (and really into chemistry), so when he passed away I got a tattoo of the molecule pheomelanin to remember him by

As a redhead, I don’t think my pain tolerance is any different than any other people, (although my sister used to use her nails to pinch me to try and wake up and I never really felt it even though it left marks) but I do agree with the sensitivity to hot and cold….we’ll heat for me. Anything above 65° is complete torture for me. I don’t mind the cold so much until my feet get cold, then I start to get uncomfortable.

As a red head, I concur that I don’t feel pain as much as others, and I am a huge baby in extremely hot or cold temperatures

As a red head skateboarder this makes sense I’ll be hurting myself all day without thinking but if it gets a little too hot. I’m done.

As a redhead, I find it interesting that people who have red hair like myself don’t feel very much pain. The science behind this is very fascinating to me.

Not only do I have red hair, one recessive genetically expressed trait, but I also have blue eyes. The rarity of having this combination of traits makes me feel so amazed by genetics.

I, as a fellow redhead, suffered a collapsed lung due to improper anesthesia during a colectomy a decade ago. I'm still alive, but that was really shitty to come out of surgery alone and when they removed the treak the nurse asked me to take a deep breath and when I couldn't I thought it was a cruel joke. TL;DR we need better research on anesthesia for mc1r folx ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Gene science definitely fascinating, especially when you think how much is still left to be discovered. We have a long way to go, SO much more to learn.

Hey guys, I've been watching your videos for a long time now, and as a visual learner, I appreciate the drawings, however small it may be, because it helped me understand the teachings more and it adds to my general knowledge. So thank you for everything you do. God bless your channel more!

Pain from Naruto was a redhead. So it's understandable why you would have a distorted sense of pain.

My kids aunt and uncle used to send these when he was away in the Air Force. They’re so awesome. Also, finding your channel made me so happy, you’re wonderful. 😊

Thanks for making this video. I found out about these differences about a year ago and it made everything I feel make sense. I don't care much at all about cuts or needles, some drugs I react really strongly to while others don't seem to work and I hate the cold!

Several doctors have mentioned needing larger amounts of anesthetic to me - I thought I remembered them saying something about gingers metabolizing medicine faster and being more likely to wake up early or have it wear off too soon? When you look it up, there seems to be a lot on redheads being specifically MORE sensitive to pain... I'm confused :')

This is not a scientific comment but I just love your energy. You're so funny and full of personality. You were meant for entertainment. What better way, than to teach!

OMG! I'm 57, and never dreamed my high pain tolerance and hatred of high temperatures is connected to my hair color - though I did learn about 15 yrs ago that my narrow and deep veins are linked.
