How to Thrift Shop | Thrift Shopping Tips | Thrift Haul //

My top thrift store tips and shopping guide. Thrift shopping has been a huge key for our family and our journey to debt free living. Not only frugal living but buying second hand also brings a more intentional living mindset to your life. Thrift stores are literally full of things that people realized they didn’t need. And you can benefit from that! My thrift shopping guide will help you to sift through that junk store, flip through those consignment clothes, stretch that clothing budget to the max, and bring home your next Goodwill haul. And thrifting is a great hands-on way to learn how to budget with kids and save money to pay off debt. What’s to lose?

Getting in and "digging" is key! Holding on to the "maybe's" good one too! I've had more than one person follow me around and I've even asked "hey are you going to get that?" LOL Cash, cash baby!

Yes to all the tips! We live too far out to thrift regularly (not to mention that out here Goodwill is really the only choice and they are no cheaper than just running to Walmart) but my favorite Mennonite run thrift shop is always worth it. I’ve found the best deals and treasures there. My tip: make a list of what you’re looking for. Sometimes it’s so overwhelming being surrounded by such an array of stuff that I need my list that I can glance down at and say “Oh yeah, I wanted to look for I’ve walked out and gotten half way home lots of times before I realized I wanted to look at the picture frames or whatever.

Great post! We are kindred spirits! I have been thrifting my entire life. It's the thrill of the hunt, you never know what you might find. Yes, #7 and #8! Put it in your cart, you can always put it back later. I'm all about the cross-body purse. A few more tips: When you see employees bringing out new merchandise get your fanny over there and have a look, they are happy to let you look through the bins, it's less stuff that they have to shelve. Remember to bend down and look on the bottom shelves and all the way to the back of each shelf. Many stores will also put items on the shelf that sits on top of hanging clothes racks; don't forget to look there; it's easy to get tunnel vision and just look at the hanging items.

YES! Love this video!
We call them charity, or reuse shops in the uk.
I consider ‘thrifting’ a hobby 😆 You can find so much vintage treasure that lasts way longer than new - if I need something, I go find it.
I agree, the messy shops are the best, its also why I love jumble sales, or yard sales - we say we are ‘going for a mooch’ and you never know what you will find.
I’m partial to kitchenware mostly, but linens are also something I love to find.

Great tips, we almost completely op shop for everything. I draw the line at smalls and swimwear. My favourite tip was the one about bargains being a true bargain you need or want. I've been guilty of buying something that's an awesome deal but not used/worn it because it wasn't something I needed. Yes, excellent point, never put anything down that your thinking about. Haha

I thrift, I found a beautiful old oak head board put outside by someone for the pick up. Just this week I found two round side tables with the feet and leather on top, I am going to paint these.
Thank you for sharing

Really good tips. I especially like the tips about having straps and a blanket, and the one about Hansen a Tyser and baby wipes. Those are two things I always wish I had with me when I was in a thrift store and invariably I never do.

Ummmm! Score on the birthday gifts!!! I’m a thrift shopper as well and love the thrill of the hunt! Your tips are spot on. I would add to be sure you have a place/room for it. I’ve become pretty choosey after years of impulse buying. Thanks for sharing this! I would love to see a Haul of the Week video!! 😃
