How to Create Polygroups in Zbrush? | Lesson 3 | Chapter 6 | Zbrush 2021.5 Essentials Training:
Selections and masking are great for isolating parts of a model, but they're very temporary. However, you can assign parts of your model with a permanent designation called a polygroup. This way, you can always come back to a particular selection or mask. There are also many other things you can do with playgroups. So let's dive in.

Just the tutorial I needed!
Thank you for including the part about switching the ploy frame on!
I may sound stupid, but I couldn't figure out why polygroups weren't working for me
i only half remembered how they worked, and no other tutorial mentioned it
Was pulling my hair out till i came across this

Hello. I have a tree stump model I built in ZBrush. It has 6 levels of detail. I want to get UVs that I can control, and also be able to export my normal map into Painter (and eventually to Maya).

So, I've heard the best way to do this is to create polygroups. I masked (via the paint brush) the areas I wanted separated, hit "ctrl-w", and got no change in color of the polygons.

Any ideas as to why this did not work? I did this at the model's highest resolution. Is that potentially the culprit?

Thanks.

Can you turn off the mesh of the polygroups?
