Recessed Lighting Installation - How To Install Pot Lights In Kitchen

In this video I will do doing a recessed lighting installation. If you need to know how to install pot lights in a kitchen ceiling then this is the video for you. Recessed lights are also called pot lights or can lights. I will be using Halo 6” recessed light housings for all my recessed lights. This install is in a new construction kitchen.

FYI you do not need connectors for these cans. You can put your wires in the black slots attached at the ends of the box. You simply open the top/cap and place the wire in the slot. This will save both time and money as you will not have buy and install the connectors.

Thank you for this video. Much clearer than the others I watched. With your explanation of the connectors, I was able to find a loose wire (not fully inserted) that was cutting power to the last three lights on a circuit.

Another great video! I prefer having the kitchen sink light on a separate switch so you don't have to turn on all the kitchen lights just to rinse something off.

You don't need romex connectors for those. The black plastic parts are for romex. Just pop it up, slide in the romex and put on the cover.

I recently installed the very thin, less than an inch, LED recessed lights. Much easier to install than cans. Easy to change color of light. I'll never install the big cans again.

Can you install the new construction mounts in an old house? I only have those and I was wondering if they can be installed on top of the drywall through the attic
