The movie is recorded in Iceland, which has some of the best atlantic salmon rivers in the World. From tiny fast flowing canyon rivers to slow and wide streams.
Nils fishes the entire season every year, from the beginning to the end as a real salmon bum.
The camera has joined Nils on a number of these trips to very different rivers. He shares his knowledge and we’ll see him catch numerous salmon.
An instructive movie about strategy, techniques, flies and the tackle to use in very different conditions.
All together experiences and knowledge that can be used no matter where in the World you fish for atlantic salmon.

I wish someone had shared this knowledge with me forty years ago when I started Atlantic salmon fishing here in eastern Canada. I've been casting blindly in the "classic style" without understanding what I was trying to make the fly accomplish or how to do it. Thank you for the knowledge and the entertainment! Oh, and my one day fly fishing experience in Iceland was like the one you showed - cold, with lots of rain and wind and no takers!

Thank you so much for this very interesting insight to islandic Salmon flyfishing.
One question I have. Can you explain for what reason you grab the flyline with your forehand with a finger almost all times, holding the line near the blank, nevermind if you are stripping to speed-up the fly (one reason), but also when you fishing and not stripping line or even when fighting the fish?

Very nice video. The only thing I dont like is when you hold the fish out of the water under the heart for the camera - better to keep it in the water - that way it has a much better chance of recovery. Its a bit like holding someone's head under water when they've just run a marathon.

Give the fish the fly again straight away and it wont take it. That's not true here in Norway just put a similar ish flie on but a smaller size and it will tske it instantly in 90% of the attempts if its a holding fish.

Salmon beached… like 45 seconds out of water… 3 hooks flies… thats a very bad ethic👎🏻
