This feature alone makes this iMac better than the iMac Pro.

Thanks for the video. I saw this video and got the courage to buy 16 gb RAM and went on to put it to my new 2020 27' iMac (5k) computer myself.
It originally came with a total of 8 gb of RAM, the two 4 gb RAM units were placed in slots B and D. The computer turn very slow after I downloaded my music and photos. After adding the 16 gb of RAM units, the computer is now working great.

I found that new 8 gb RAM units should be placed in slots B and D and the 4 gb units should be in the slots A and C.

If the 8 gb units are placed in slots A and B and the 4 gb units are placed in slots C and D, the computer shows that it only has 16 bb of RAM, not 24 gb it should show.

Contrary to what some may believe, Apple does not use some kind of special or faster ram. It's the same run of the mill stuff you can buy yourself.

Is this okay to use two 16+16GB ram sticks(crusial) along with the Apple provided 4+4GB RAM to make it 40GB ? Won't it affect anything !

Why not use the 8GB in the two free slots?

Why didn’t you keep the ones that came with it for extra 8 gigs?

Would you recommend 24GB ram. I found a good deal on 16GB ram, but was thinking of keeping the 8GB thats already in the machine.

Awesome you just saved me a bunch of time. I watched another guy take apart the whole computer to get to the RAM. Thank you!

Wish I saw this vid before I purchased my 32gb ram iMac. Can I buy a further 32gb ram and upgrade to 64, leaving the ram already in place there or do I need to remove it and replace?

Can you still attached the stock 8gig (2 4gig) on slot 1 and 3? To have a 40gig ram?

Why not add 2 modules instead of replacing? Do all 4 modules need to be the same size?

Can I leave the 8GB of RAM n there & just add 2 more n the open slots?
I purchased 64GB from OWC, which is 2 chips 32GB each.

If you wanted to add ram to the existing 8 would you need to move the existing 8 to slot 3 and 4 to put the bigger modules in 1 and 2, or does it matter?

Great video but you do not answer the important questions. Can you not add the two new Ram to the existing ones, and if not why not?

I added 16g to the original 8 and the speed reduced to 2133mhz using just the new 16g it was fine at 2666
they need to be put in order 2 4g and 2 8g not 4g 8g 4g 8g
