A daughter explaining a song to her deaf family is one of the most purest forms of love and affection i have ever seen depicted on a screen.

I will never understand why Emilia Jones didn't get nominated for an Oscar. She had to learn ASL, speak in American English, take voice lessons and learn to fish. She's just amazing. Amazing.

Emilia Jones. I was surprised to learn that she had never taken any singing lessons. She did not know ASL at all, but didn’t just want to learn her lines — she learned the language in 9 months so she could really sign with her co-stars. Plus she’s British, so she had to act in a non-native accent. It’s all just so impressive and award-worthy.

Cry every time. The whole movie was so beautiful and authentic. I choke up in so many places…esp when the dad tells her to go later. Everyone should watch the film!

I cried a lot in that scene of her and her father where she was singing and he is feeling the song through the vibrations in her neck. Hands down to one of the most touching scenes in film history.

I have 2 profoundly deaf children. I sang and signed songs in ASL to them all the time they were growing up. I’d put their hands on the speakers to feel the beats. I’d have them dance with me and bought a drum set so they could feel the vibrations of the various tones. When my daughter was in high school she joined the band (to play drums) because we taught them all things are possible, no limitations so she did. She did quite well and made us proud!! 🤟💕🤟💕

I loved this part. The best thing is that she is looking only at her family, not the professors.

This movie speaks inclusivity. When she started to sing with sign language, my tears didnt hesitate to fall. Best of 2021 😭❤🎶👏

As one reviewer I read wrote, “I wouldn’t want to live in a world where a best picture winner couldn’t be a movie just like CODA.” Amen.

To say Emilia Jones got robbed of an Oscar nomination would be an understatement. Her acting, her singing, her signing. What else does a girl need to do to be recognized?

Part way through this film I said to my partner, "Emilia's voice would really be suited to Joni Mitchell's 'Both Sides Now.'" I nearly fell of my chair when it was scripted. The cut in audio in the middle of the high school performance was directional genius to demonstrate the impact on the deaf family members. Both Sides Now provides a very satisfying conclusion with the audition signing and the montage which shows the family's acceptance in the community. No surprise to see lots of comments here mention tears.

It really got me when Mr. V who was behaving so confident and strong through the movie walked in the room looking so anxious and insecure. How he faced the "authorities" who seemed to look down on him and the way he said "Sorry, my mistake" to give Ruby a second chance😭

I love how alive she becomes when she's singing and signing together. She's embracing and expressing both sides of herself.

Emilia Jones is our next biggest A list actor for Hollywood, i can't wait to see what else she does in the future. She's so talented

I love this movie! I almost cried because of how much I can relate. My older sister is deaf, my parents don't' know sign language, so I have to interpret all the time because I'm the most fluent out of my whole family. Interpreting for her growing up was overwhelming sometimes, so when I watched this movie, I felt like I was finally seen.

I cried like a blubbering baby. It was so beautiful her signing to her family. I’ve watched it many times. Her voice is so pure and sweet.

One of the most emotive scenes in a movie that I’ve ever watched. So so good. Would love to see it win best film at the academy awards. The scene where her father holds her throat to feel her singing and also when she’s onstage and you realise her parents will never hear her singing voice. It’s so well made and so beautiful. Highly recommend this movie to anyone who hasn’t watched it yet

This was truly one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time. It wasn’t intended to make her family look bad. The love was apparent the whole time and the daughter got to be her own person without needing to be some rebellious teenager. Her family “listened” to her even when they didn’t hear her. It’s just all around beautiful, as is this song.
