JONI MITCHELL: "I'M FLUID..."

"If you listen to that music and you see me, you're not getting anything out of it. If you listen to that music and you see yourself, it'll probably make you cry and you'll learn something about yourself and now you're getting something out of it." - Joni Mitchell

BOTH SIDES NOW (1966)
JONI MITCHELL
Neil Diamond (1969)
Album: Touching You, Touching Me

Rows and flows of angel hair
Ice cream castles in the air
Feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain they snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way

I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds… at all

Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
And every fairy tale comes real
I've looked at love that way

But now it's just another show
Leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away

I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love… at all

Tears and fears and feeling proud
Say "I love you" right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way

But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads and say I've changed
But something's lost, when something's gained
In living every day

I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all…

Doug, it is absolutely amazing!!  Every single word of the song has it's own descriptive beautiful picture to go with it.  I keep thinking you can't create another video as beautiful as all your other ones but you prove me wrong every time. Thank you for letting me know about it so quickly :) :) :)  Sandy

There is something unique about how this guy effortlessly adds class to everything he sings. A true genius at work

Ive been listening to Neil for m any years {im 86 yo } and over these years the lyrics of his songs become more and more intriguing. He is definately a poet. He sets his emotional poetry to the most beautiful music or? is it the other way round and leaves me floating somewhere else.

It's the song which often brings tears in my it's also a kind of synopsis of my life at the age of 66.
I've found the Neil Diamond's rendition of this song as the best one.

What I love about Neil Diamond is how he puts so much passion into each word he sings.

The first time I became acquainted with Mr. Neil Diamond, was in junior high. My teacher went to school with him in New York. We were introduced to poetry and Mr. Diamond was in our text book. I became acquainted with his style of poetry before I came in contact to his music. I have the outmost admiration of God to gift a person with the tunes and words that connect with so many people. Thank you Mr. Diamond. Your music has become an important part of my life journey. Helped during difficult moments and celebration in joyous moments too. Thank you for being a blessing.
