Why are Eggs in Japan so Orange?

Hey everyone, got really busy this week and next week and won't be able to get into the kitchen to film another ramen video for a bit. I put together this short clip that answers a pretty common question when it comes to Japanese eggs. Many people who go to Japan find the color of the egg yolks there pretty shocking as they're very orange when compared to what we usually see in the US. I found the reason why they're so orange interesting so I figured I may as well share it.

I had two hens growing up and the eggs were intense orange. plus the shell is extremely hard to crack open. i had to hit the eggs on the counter pretty hard a couple of times. all that I fed them were chicken feed corn based, and fresh Napa cabbages. they loved the fresh veggies and rollie pollies. i never fed them bell peppers, carrots, or marigold.

I’ve always wondered this during my trips in Japan 🤔😋🥚

sometimes the yolk color means nothing, but sometimes it smells different and taste different and i think in that situation it does indicate more nutritional content. i've been buying these eggs from a company and they have consistantly darker color yolks and they do taste better and smell better during cooking

I'm pretty sure carrots and peppers are a lot healthier than corn. 🤷‍♀️

I’m going to feed my chicken more bell papers and see if that is true.

My hens eggs are so hard… I feed them soy & corn free grain that’s fermented. I also just started feeding them sweet potatoes, kale, alfalfa, etc. They also eat organic black sunflower seeds.. and other treats.

Its not only the color. Its also the protein content. Much higher in japanese eggs

i have chickens and we tried feeding them many foods high in carotenoids to make the yolk brighter but to no success

I'm living in Japan now and can attest to the fact that these are the best tasting eggs I've ever had in my life. I'd really like to know why.

Japanese eggs are definitely healthier! Try consuming raw eggs in America and see what happens to you whereas in Japan they eat raw eggs daily

The white egg yolks sound like a good video topic.

Great way for some filler content. I'm really curious about the translation of the japanese ramen culture in to english. Meaning that clearly some of the channels and sites you are tapped into in Japan are out of reach for english speakers, so wondering if there is a way to bridge that divide, and also make it a video that isnt cooking.

It's one of those things that is just different enough that I would be a little put off if I didn't know this. I'm so used to seeing yellow yolk that I would think it either wasn't cooked correctly or I'm being fed eggs from some foreign animal.

Does this mean we are closer to green eggs and ham?

What will you say about white egg yolk? Are they real or fake?
