Sweet and sour chicken balls is one of the most ordered items on a Chinese takeaway menu, every other order will have these on them without fail, so here is a recipe so you can make a quick sweet and sour sauce and Chinese takeout style chicken balls, this is also a recipe I've used in an actual takeaway before so its tried and tested. As always there are a couple of ways to make these, this is just one and yes we have made this recipe before, but like we've explained in a few videos, we're remaking them so there is more information as we missed some key points that you lot have asked about, so we wanted to make a better version of the old recipe video.

If you want any other dishes, please comment them below, it really does help our channel and the content we make.

I'm from Ontario, Canada and I have never heard them called anything other than Chicken balls. To me chicken fingers are the breaded long pieces that are like Chicken McNuggets from McDonalds!! Every Chinese restaurant I've ever been in called them Chicken balls so don't know where these other people are from but not Ontario!!..LOL!! Not that it matters... they TASTE GREAT, and that's the important part!!

When my favourite local chinese takeaway closed down as the owners were retiring I was devastated. I'll have to give this a try at some point as I love Chicken and Pork balls. Looks so delicious!

I'm so hungry for SS Chicken balls right now. Thanks. I also appreciate that you explain the chicken balls can be slightly different in size, shape and texture with few changes to the recipe. Loved it and as always loved your Mum. What a little gem 🥰

Bro I was a Chinese chef for a good few years and as a English man that was strange to the other chefs and other restaurants I use to want to do a cook off against Chinese chefs and knife skills all that.
But how you did your chicken balls was exactly right and how we did them. Legend bro

I have travelled extensively throughout Canada and America for many many years and love North American style Chinese food. Chicken fingers are the same as chicken tenders which are strips of chicken that are breaded and then fried.
These offering are usually served in non Chinese restaurants. Depending on the establishment various sauces are offered from honey mustard to ranch to bbq.
Chicken balls are cubes of chicken usually chicken breast which are battered and then fried. They are always served with sweet and sour sauce.

I made Chicken Balls tonight. I can confirm that the naming is correct for the UK.

Mine was made with a hybrid version of the sweet and sour sauce recipe I normally use (from the Wok cookbook by J Kenji Lopez-Alt) along with your earlier sweet and sour video, which uses cloves, star anise and Oranges for more aromatics. This was served with a stir fried veg / chilli / garlic / ginger / soy / sesame oil side dish and obviously rice. The whole lot went down really well. The balls were nice and crunchy on the outside, the batter was light and the chicken was nice and moist. Thanks !

You can count me as +1 for adding MSG.

One suggestion. Adding the full ingredients list and their measurements into the video description makes setting up a lot easier. Take a look at Souped up Recipe's channel for ideas.

I live in Australia now but am from Bristol. Your food is absolutely the local chip shop Friday night comfort food from the first two decades of my life. Having tried your recipes, it's perfect. Do my Aussie friends get it, no. Do my Malaysian or Chinese friends get it, no. It's so specific to that time and place. Complete
