Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of Peugeot 208 2019

Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid barrier
- an offset frontal impact test, 40% of the width of the car is striking a deformable barrier
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole
- a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking systems (car to car, with a pedestrian and a cyclist target), lane support and speed assist technologies and seatbelt reminders.

For those that are shocked by the result. To put your mind at ease, it's a very safe car to be an occupant in (91% adult, 86% child interior occupant). It did badly on the pedestrian scores because of the flat nose.

2017 Polo is 96% compared to 91% for adult occupant in 208. I expected more from Peugeot. It seems sturdy enough though and I couldn't resist if I'm on a market for the supermini.

These tests are absolutely ridiculous. The rating should be given purely on how the car withstands an impact from a collision. Driver aids should not effect the rating in any way regardless if its in a positive or negative way.

Everyone should take the star rating with a pinch of salt

208 is an excellent and very safe car! People just don't understand that this crash test was made with a basic version without the safety plus pack ( which can detect cyclists ).
That's only why the car lost one star. (The ratings standards became harder)
The 208 model with safety plus pack get 5 stars!


This car would have had 10 stars five years ago! ;)

4 stars it's good, but it would have got 5 stars if the aeb test had a better result. But the more expensive version got 5 stars

Seeing the rear end of the car bend (you can see the rear wheel arches flex) in a 50 km/h crash is not a good sign. One of those cars designed just to pass an official crash test and nothing more. The front crumple zone is also very soft and fully deforms at just 64 km/h, leaving nothing extra. If you crash any faster, you're fucked.

Very regrettable, the performance is generally flawed and downright bad in several cases.
PSA has saved far too much money on the technical development work.

Why Euro-ncap put 35km/h for the AEB pedestran test for the 208 and only 30km/h for the Clio 5 and polo AEB pedestran test .WTF ???? .Question: where is the AEB cyclist test with the new 208 ? that's unequal and not serious than Euro-ncap. This new 208 deserves 5 stars immediatly .Euro-ncap ! shame on you ! 👎

A safe car should immediately release all airbags. However, they will never fire again later and the car may continue to move for a long time in a normal collision.
