Build SPARTAN Bones

preview_player
Показать описание
Spartan bones were 150% denser than today’s athletes.

Here’s how YOU can build bones like that:

Lifting weights builds bone density—but it’s not the lifting itself.

It’s the LOWERING phase of a lift, called the eccentric portion, that strengthens bones the most.

Even better? Repeated impact, like plyometric training, stresses bones even more and triggers adaptation.

Modern proof?

Hunter-gatherer tribes today still have 20% denser bones than the average American.

Here’s how YOU fix it:
1. Add basic plyometrics, like the hops used by Maasai lion hunters.
2. Slow down the ‘lowering’ phase of your lifts during workouts.

Check out the bone strength experiment by John Wood. The guy trained on nothing but heavy partials and heavy supports on the top position of barbell squat, deadlifts, and bench. He tracked his bone density with dexa scans 2-3x a year. Did this for at least 2-3 yrs exclusively. Made very good progress in his forties and even added 3/4" in height. Handling heavy odd objects, yes as a developping kid especially, is where its at. One of the strongest grips ever was held by karl grun marx i believe. He worked in a rock quarry as a kid and his hands were massive. He attributed much of his grip and body strength to that. They say its not possible to build bone density as an adult, but wood proves that wrong.

Let's be honest here. If the 150% higher bone density claim were true, it would mostly have to be a genetic component.

What’s shocking is, when you read Banned Spartan Rituals you’ll realize how blinded you were regarding your potential. That book has some serious knowledge everyone should know.

Do some Navy SEAL pullups. Pullup, chin over bar. Slowly lower, 3 to 5 seconds, pause in the long stretched position. Explode up.

AI was going crazy in this video. Buddy was jumping so fast he was pulling beach sand out of concrete. 😮‍💨

The key here is start physical activities from the age of 3, my little cousins bones got thicker at the age of 3 since the kid is physically active doing wrestling and tackles including running.

Their bones might have been more dense due to the harder lives ancient humans lived. Who walks thousands of miles to fight today? Who has the time to train all day play fighting and not have to worry about bills to pay? Unless ur a professional athlete where u can afford to train insane and have the time then it’s not as feasible to live as an ancient spartan. There’s so many factors that gave them the advantage over our lives shaped by technology. It’s kinda dumb to compare an ancient Spartan with Jim from accounting department 😂

I wonder if the video knows that 150% denser bones means that their bones were 2.5 times denser. That's really hard to believe and even harder to believe there's any evidence for that. Highly doubt there's any scientific study that shows this.

The only dense thing is the wild inconsistency in using percentages. Spartans = 150% denser but hunter gatherers only 20% denser? 100% denser would then mean 2x, and 150% would be 2.5x, which is impossible.

The dexa scan used during spartan times was an older model. Could've led to incorrect readings 😂

Eccentric facilitate using higher weights. Also doing SUPPORTS and partials as Paul Anderson did.

True. If you run since teenage years, you will have bigger hips, and less of a V shape as a result-it's the crushing factor, not pressure from lifts. In muay thai, shin practice-it's about crushing your shin a bit, not lifting weights.

I’m a huge fan of your work. It’s refreshing to hear a historical aspect to strength training. I was a history major in college and love that you’re the acting strength historian. If you don’t mind me asking, do you read books for your resources? I’m curious how you’re researching.
