How to Fix YOUR gas Dryer that is not heating up (Part 2- front panel)

Показать описание
This video will teach you how to troubleshoot your gas dryer. My gas dryer would not heat up so I will show you the three main pieces in the front of the dryer that should be checked using an ohms meter. It is very easy to do and ANYONE can do this. Just to get this thing checked by a technician would cost $100. Then any parts, which are 4x the price you can get them at, plus $100 or more an hour for labor. By the time you are done, they will charge $250 to fix your dryer (half price for a brand new one). This job takes 1hr if you take your time, and the parts cost under $10.

It may be 9 years old video but you helped me fix the dryer. It was weak solenoids. Got new ones from Amazon for $9 and it worked. Thanks

Chris, you are good man! I bought a pair of solenoids for $9.40 at Amazon.com, installed them after performing the trouble shooting steps in the first of your videos. You hit the nail on the second video and upon installing the new parts, my dryer worked beautifully! You saved me about $584.00 because it this had not work, I would have gone out and purchased a new dryer! You have an awesome talent that I cannot thank enough for sharing with us. Outstanding job man and thank you for your excellent video. I had this problem; I turn dryer on, I see the glow, solenoid clicks and there is flame. About 35-45 seconds later the gas shuts off. No flame. If I restart the dryer it does the same thing. New solenoids fix it! Than you again.

Excellent videos! Good camera shots and very clearly explained. Many years ago I remember calling repair guy out. He charged me around $100 to replace that cheap 7 dollar thermal fuse and it only took him less than 15 min. That is when I decided I need to do my own washer and dryer repairs. My dryer is about 25 years old and I average replacing something on it every 3 or 4 years. I never can remember exactly how I fixed it the years before without reviewing internet and notes etc. Your 2 videos are the best by far and will be all I need the next time I need a refresher course. Thanks!

Dude. You're a lifesaver! It was the thermostat next to the burner. This is the only video that talks about that thermostat. I almost gave up on my dryer until I saw this video. You saved me a ton of money!!! Thanks a lot!!!

You are a freaking LIFESAVER!!! I did exactly what you said, and tested the thermal fuse breaker. I replaced it with a 3 or 4 dollar replacement. BOOM! the dryer is operating just like new. Thank you for doing this video.

Chris, you are a ROCK STAR! I went to a local appliance parts store and picked up a pair of solenoids for $24, installed them after performing the trouble shooting steps in the first of your videos. You hit the nail right on the head in the second video and upon installing the new parts, my dryer worked beautifully! You saved me about $400 because if this had not worked, my wife would have gone out and purchased a new dryer! You have an awesome talent that I cannot thank you enough for sharing with us out here in do-it-yourself land. I subscribed to your channel and will be investigating what other repair advice you have in store. Outstanding job sir and thank you a million times over for your excellent videos!

Thank you! First time home owner, moved into the house for about 5 months, the seller left behind the dryer it, s been working fine till 2 weeks ago. I've saved over $165 having someone over to fix it or getting a new dryer! My dryer didn't heat up, I replaced the solenoid $20, cleaned my dryer throughly. It's working now! This is the best video so far after searching for awhile, didn't help with the issue, I like your step by step showing how to find the problems and fixing it! Great job!

I've now used these videos (part 1 and 2) TWICE to fix my dryer. Last year it was the fuse in the back, and this time it's the flame sensor thermostat (the very last thing Chris shows beneath the drum). Well done, and much appreciated, Chris!

I paid a guy $180 to replace the exact solenoids you show in the video. I watched part 1 of this video, and ruled out problems with the part. I failed to watch this video, and called a repair dude. That was a mistake. I saw the price on the solenoids he used--$24 for both of them. DANG. Watch all the video parts. I could have saved some serious coin!! The upside is that we have a working dryer again, and it was still less expensive than a new dryer. Thanks for making this video, we need to start fixing things instead of throwing them away. Strong work!

Thanks so much for all your help! I had the components on the back checked and they were all good. So I bought the solenoid coils and replaced them. Dryer works perfect now! My hubby was soooo impressed that I fixed it on my own - all thanks to your video!! Thank you!

Thanks Chris for the dryer fix walkthrough. I was having a problem with my dryer not heating and after checking out your first video and everything checked out, I watched this one. After noticing it wasn't glowing, I checked the continuity on the ignitor and there wasn't any. After taking it out I noticed the element that heats up was cracked. Oh, and my dryer is a Whirlpool but all the elements should be about the same on any gas dryer like this. Thanks again, man.

Watched your video. Pulled out my dryer; cleaned and dismantled it. Narrowed the potential problem down to the "thermal fuse." (At least that's what the bag containing the new part is labeled). Purchased the part for $10 dollars. Replaced the part and the dryer is well, drying. Your video saved me a minimum of $80 for the repairman house call. I'm certain it would have been well over a hundred bucks. Thank you!!!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I'll start out by saying I've replaced my washer THREE times and dryer TWO times in 12 years! My dryer stopped heating yesterday and I couldn't see spending money to replace it yet AGAIN. I found your video and followed your steps and it turned out to be the rear thermostat. Cost me $20! Now I understand how they work AND how to trouble shoot the THANK YOU!

I needed to have the dryer fixed and didn't have 100 to 200 dollars to spend on it. Googled and found your video. I followed it step by step and found the problem in the front of the dryer. There was no click. Purchased the part, put it in, plugged it in and turned it on. Then removed the peep hole on the bottom left and watched and listened. I saw the pink glow and shortly there after i heard the click and the gas flame on. We have 4 babies under 2 years old and 6 children under 7 years old. This was a life saver. I spent less than $25 for the two parts. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

I NEVER leave comments, but I have to say after watching close to 30 videos on dryer issues, yours was the one that solved the problem! Mine would initially heat, but then it would turn off and not heat anymore. (The "glow" would happen, the gas just wouldn't ignite) So, off to change the solenoid! Thanks so much for posting this. Saved me hundreds of dollars I'm sure!

Very helpful.  My husband and I are not normally DIY types, but we followed your instructions and avoided a huge expense.  Thanks so much!
