If you have used one of the "modern" gas cans, you know how frustrating they can be. Here is one solution to the problem.

Note: The Handyguys purchased the products in this video because they looked promising. We were not provided with any products from the manufacturer or advised to purchase the products. This was all on our own.

I might just have to switch over to what you guys suggested. My dad has 4 of those cans that the nozzle sticks open and I always spill gas everywhere even sometimes on a hot engine. Not good. You would think someone somewhere would have used them because the nozzle sticks open all the time. Lol. Great video! My dad also has one of those old cans like the smaller one in this video. It works great. No problems with it so far.

Yes we use the Schrader valve all the time. Works well.

Thank you for this suggestion.  Like you, I've spilled too much gas on my feet with the new fangled canisters.  Plus it's impossible to pour any of the remaining gas into the car fuel tank.

I got an EZ pour, but still have had trouble w/ the wimpy gasket tearing & leaking like a SOG. Can you recommend any sealer or gasket material that holds up to gas?? I tried bike tire inner tube rubber, but it just swells up & doesn't really work.

and the old cans had strainers in the spouts to keep dirt out of the carb

The 4 "dislikers" wrote the silly "California" legislation.  How can someone seriously come up with such trash???  The solution is simple, buy a NATO Jerry can and refuse to use anything else.  If anything in this country rightly deserves civil disobedience, it's this issue.  I'd like to see the gov'ment fine and imprison an entire country for refusing to use a certain gas can.

My modern gas cans have been modified with old tire stems (schrader valve removed, sometimes even drill out center a little more) or just a hole plugged by a nail. Had trouble with one valve, may have drilled too large a hold with step drill bit.
I do like the second handle on the back. Oldest gas can still in use is always last choice because it lacks that extra handle.

I have the easy pour spout on all of my gas cans. The spout itself works nice, defeats all of the EPA garbage. However, it's still leaks at the lid. I'm going to the hardware store today to see if I can find a rubber gasket that fits and insert into the lid and see if that prevents the leaking.

drill a small hole in the handle and put a golf tee in it as a stopper. Oh yeah!

They’re all crap! The guy who invented was probably from California and a real GasHole! Thanks for the video I just came off a off road trip and spilled copious amounts of gas with this Rube Goldberg gas can contraption! Thanks for the find gentlemen!

My old spout leaks when pouring looks like it needs a new gasket. Where can i get one if possible?

The new sceptor cans are horrible.i use to have to do emergency start ups for oil customers . Couldn't buy wedco cans any more, so was buying the sceptor diesel cans. -30 deg nights and the oil would pore out like molasses. What a friggin nightmare. Still using the old wedcos, but very difficult to find replacement spouts for them now.

You guys need to check out the no spill gas can. I tried one and replaced my entire fleet with them. They're awesome

*I used this on my 2006 Troy Bilt Pony (MTD) tractor **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend it was an easy swap. It's very light aluminum and seems sturdy enough so far; I assume you really only need to replace the idle pulleys once so if these wear out anytime while I have the mower I'll update the reivew.*

I have an old gas can that the plastic broke around the threads of the spout. I replaced the spout with an aftermarket one but the gas leaks out the threads. Maybe this aftermarket solution would be better. I ordered mine online but it wasn't this brand.

I’ve bought a couple of ez pours. They suck too. Leak where they attach to can.

Leave it to the government to ruin gas cans. I LOVE those old Chilton gas cans, like the one in the video. Nothing better.

I have one of the old gallon containers with a flexible spout, best damn gas container that met its end with a minuscule leak on the bottom of the container
