Renault 5 GT turbo. Owned one in 91 and always put a smile on my face. Super quick and looked great in pearl white with full sliding sunroof. Much better than fiesta rs turbo which handled poorly.

Finally a classics video, Thanks JB! I'd like to recommend a "Not so hot" hatch, The Renault 4. Pablo Escobar circuit raced one, Pope Francis has one and a sinpar 4x4 one came third overall in the first ever Paris Dakar. Not fast but cheap and fun, don't forget that it's easy to swap in an R5 engine too for extra poke!!

Great video, I love to hear your opinion on future classics higher performance cars of a few years ago that are considered old but not classic status yet, there are a lot of cheap audi TTs, nissan 350 and mk 5 golfs out there, I have taken a punt on a e46 330i and a mk2 jetta gti but maybe I'm just a bit mad.

I love the Fiesta RS Turbo so much honestly, I would absolutely love to have one as a fun car if I could find a decent example. To be honest I knew that car would be on the video once I saw the title lmao

Love your videos and appreciation of older cars. But a Fiesta RS Turbo was dreadful at the time and will be more dreadful now. Why anyone bought one when the 205 GTi was available is beyond me. Fortunately not many did. :-)

Nice one man.. a blast from the past for me.. I had the 1.6 version of the 205 GTi (mine was a shed tbh and money pit)...I also had a golf GTi mk 2.. yikes these cars are going for crazy money now..😮.. guy that kinda money I'd go for newer, better reliability, more comfy (mod cons etc).. Plus faster

I'm a big fan of 80s/90s hot hatches in general, there were so many good ones. The 306 GTi-6 will always be my favourite but it's also hard to look past the HF Integrale - although that's obviously well over £20k now. Would love a go in a Satria GTi, or even better the R3 which I think might have only been sold in Malaysia but that means they're right hand drive. Odd choice I'll admit 😁

The lotus sunbeam is always overlooked along with the Vauxhall chevette hsr. They were the original hot hatches as well as being rally classics.

As a 22 years old I thought I was the bollox in 93 buying a nearly 3 years old 1990 H reg Astra Gte 16v absolutely f----g fantastic car I replaced after 3 years or so another red top but 16v Gsi 2000, in the late 80s into the 90s Gte has to be the best of all hot hatches other than an Escort Cossie.

Loved the 205 GTI 1.9 but never had one. I had a Citreon BX19 GTI which was fairly rapid. Wish I still had it as it would be worth a few quid now

Pulsar never sold officially in the UK. Some other great 80’s hatches, Fiat Strada Abarth, Daihatsu Charade Gtti (yes, two t’s), Citroen AX GT, MG Maestro (really it was good, just built rather badly), Toyota Corolla GTi. All 80’s Fords and Vauxhalls were rubbish, except for the engine in the Astra GTE 16v.
